OverviewThe Claims Paralegal role plays a critical role in managing incoming legal documents and supporting cross-functional teams in responding to service of process items. This position requires strong familiarity with civil procedure, legal terminology, and risk management practices, particularly in connection with workers’ compensation and insurance operations.
The ideal candidate will demonstrate precision, discretion, and responsiveness in a fast-paced environment, ensuring timely and accurate handling of subpoenas, complaints, administrative charges, and related pleadings.
How you'll make an impact- Acknowledge and oversee service of process for multiple divisions.
- Send letters objecting to defective invoices following subpoenas.
- Use independent discretion and judgment and involve legal as appropriate.
- Timely address issues involved in responding to items received through agent for service of process.
- Work with claim handlers and legal to organize documents related to claims or litigation.
- Work with finance team and outside collections professionals to submit documentation and follow-up on pending matters; and
- Back-up claims team as requested, including reports, file maintenance, and special projects.
About YouRequired:
- Associate's degree
- Paralegal certificate
- 3 years litigation experience required
- Thorough knowledge of legal concepts, legal terminology and jurisdictional litigation protocols for federal and state courts
- Electronic filing experience necessary
