Oversight of Claims Department to meet operational, financial, and sales/service standards. Manages team of professionals in processing unit to ensure timely and accurate claim adjudication, while maintaining compliance with nationwide regulations. Direct oversight of electronic claim processing system to include efficiencies and enhancements. Responsibilities also include CARS program and vendor management, budget development, participation in claim and coverage portion of sales/marketing process, and collaboration with Service Department to ensure client satisfaction and retention.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
- Lead, coach and develop a cross-functional team to meet performance and quality expectations.
- Foster a culture of accountability, collaboration, and continuous improvement.
- Conduct regular one-on-ones, team meetings, and performance reviews.
- Manage daily workflows and ensure timely resolution of auto claims.
- Monitor team productivity and adjust resources to meet service level agreements (SLA’s).
- Collaborate with internal partners to streamline processes and remove barriers.
- Ensure adherence to regulatory requirements, internal policies, and data privacy standards (including PII protection).
- Conduct quality reviews and audits of claim files and appraisals.
- Implement corrective actions and process improvements based on audit findings.
- Support the team in delivering empathetic, accurate, and timely communication to customers.
- Monitor customer feedback and identify opportunities to enhance satisfaction and trust.
- Track and report on key performance indicators (KPI’s), including cycle time, accuracy, and resolution rates.
- Use data to identify trends, forecast volumes and inform strategic decisions.
- Serve as a liaison between the claims department and other departments (e.g. Legal, IT, Training).
- Participate in cross-functional projects and initiatives to enhance claims operations.
Required Education/Experience
- Bachelor’s degree preferred or equivalent experience in insurance.
- 10+ years of experience in auto claims and/or insurance operations
- 5+ years of experience managing hybrid or remote teams
- 3+ years of auto estimating experience using current estimating software
Skills/Abilities
- Familiarity with regulatory standards related to PII and claim compliance.
- Process improvement and/or quality assurance experience
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office skills: Word, Power Point
- Power user skills: Excel
- Strong organizational skills with a high level of accuracy and attention to detail.
- Ability to lead projects and build cross-functional relationships
- Strong understanding of claims handling, virtual appraisal processes, and customer service best practices.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills.
- Strong presentation skills.
- Ability to manage multiple tasks and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
- Problem solving mindset and a collaborative team spirit.
- Must demonstrate a high level of professionalism, motivation, enthusiasm and patience.
