The role:
Accountable & responsible for handling requisite Financial & Professional Lines claims via referral and directly, ensuring that the best outcomes for our clients and business are achieved consistently.
Assist the Financial & Professional Lines Claims Manager, deputising when required, in motivating and developing high-performing divisional resource to become a well-reputed ‘London Market’ claims team for your classes of business, which proactively delivers a first-class claims experience to clients, brokers and internal stakeholders in adherence with all HDI guidelines, claims philosophy and procedures.
To be key subject matter expert and technical referral point for the team for Financial Lines, providing specialist knowledge as required with regard to all classes of business considered under these divisions:
- Financial Lines – FIPI, Crime, Fidelity, D&O, E&O
- Global Construction
- Solicitors of England & Wales – Large and SME
- USPI – Lawyers, Accountants and EPLI business
- Cyber
- US Medical Negligence
To actively monitor accounts for relevant classes of business to ensure early and prudent best estimate reserves are in place & entered into systems, valid claims are settled promptly with a tight control of costs throughout lifecycle. Additionally, manage internal reserving process from claims perspective, providing claims insights in order to develop/retain profitable business.
To support Financial & Professional Lines Claims Manager to deliver the strategic objectives for the function. This includes managing business change, whilst executing the Claims Business Plan initiatives.
Key accountabilities:
- To be accountable for handling claims for responsible line(s) of business, making prompt and fair claims decisions from FNOL to settlement
- To be the senior point of reference, key technical referral point for team and subject matter expert for Financial & Professional Lines claims in the HDI UK Branch. Further, to ensure that consistent superior levels of claims service are delivered whilst promoting standardised best practice & effective procedures for relevant lines of business.
- Responsible for the quality and cost control management of expert service provider’s performance relevant to responsible lines of business.
- Accountable for ensuring all claims data is correct and up to date for responsible claims within lines of business, regardless of how and where claims data is processed.
- Manage and strengthen effective relationships with internal and external stakeholders, influencing to encourage better business decisions.
- Work with Financial & Professional Lines Claims Manager to develop a broker engagement strategy best suited to the relevant markets.
- Collaborate continuously with underwriters and attend client meetings to help underwriters gain and retain profitable business.
- Promote & deliver a culture of open communication, collaboration and continuous improvement; mentoring and sharing technical expertise with colleagues to deliver a superior service
- Act as ambassador of company, raising our profile in the market and actively strengthening our claims reputation
- Be open and positive in relation to feedback and learning through feedback. Promote a culture of taking ownership of mistakes and learning from the same to improve performance.
- Working with Financial & Professional Lines Claims Manager & Performance & Operations Team to identify and enhance the quality and value of processes for your area of work
- To actively participate in business change to transform current claims proposition towards our vision for a future claims service model of HDI Claims - UK
- Support Financial & Professional Lines Claims Manager to provide the people within your team with the opportunities, training and experience to expand their/your knowledge and improve their skills
- Assist Financial & Professional Lines Claims Manager to perform regular Peer Reviews for all direct reports to ensure team adherence to regulation, guidelines, practices & procedures
- Implement and maintain process controls to ensure the quality of the output for your area/team within the function. Ensure documentation of the processes and output is accurate, up-to-date and accessible
- Regularly access and monitor claims data to ensure quality of claims financials & provide insights to various internal stakeholders verbally and produce monthly and ad hoc claims reports
Skills & experience:
- Proven (10+ years) Experience of Claims Market Experience within responsible classes of business: Financial Lines – FIPI, Crime, Fidelity, D&O, E&O
- Experience of Global Construction, UK Solicitors, US PI for Lawyers, Accountants and EPLI business and Cyber is desirable
- A firm understanding of the key principles and practises of the London Market
- Must understand the claims process and its complexities and variations from first advice to final settlement
- Knowledge of the different broking procedures and claims reporting
- Up to date appreciation of the technical, legal and regulatory requirements of the role
- Knowledge of ECF2/IMR
- Passionate about claims resolution and client experience; service-orientated
- Degree/ACII or similar professional qualification (desirable)
- Proven Expert/Vendor Management
- Budget and costs control
