The role
We currently have two opportunities available — one within our Long Tail Hub and another within our Private Clients and Crisis Management Hub.
The Long Tail Hub works closely with our Professional Lines, Financial Lines, and Credit & Political Risk Underwriters based in London. Meanwhile, the Private Clients and Crisis Management Hub works with our Single Risk Crisis Management, Contingency, A&H, Fine Art, and Bloodstock Underwriting teams, also based in London.
The Senior Underwriting Operations Analyst will manage the policy lifecycle, ensuring clean data is entering into and out of HDI underwriting and financial systems and a high service level is provided to the wider business.
Deputise for the Team Leader where required and provide support, guidance and share knowledge with other members of the team.
This role would suit an individual that has worked within the Insurance industry, with experience or an interest in an Operational role.
Key accountabilities
Underwriting Administration
- Manage the team mailbox and ensure all correspondence is dealt with in an efficient and timely manner
- Transferral of underwriting information and correspondence into document management system (Doxis) where appropriate
- Data entry of all policy types and endorsements using our underwriting data entry system
- Ensuring a timely, efficient and appropriate workflow process is followed to from start to finish
Data Quality
- Take ownership of the Policy data input to eNora, monitor and review and ensure compliance with data quality protocols, via the Approval Gate
- Responsible for individual error rate and ensuring that this is in line with company standards & expectations
Managing Relationships
- Support the Operations team by delivering a high quality service to the business
- Develop and maintain a strong, long-term relationship with our underwriters along with their brokers by providing them with an excellent service
- Work closely with wider Operations team to ensure an aligned approach
- Contribute towards creating an inspiring team environment with an open communication culture
- Responsibility for actively contributing towards team goals
- Oversee day-to-day operation in team leader’s absence
- Support Team Leader in the motivation of team members and conversations about aspirations and suggest training needs and team coaching
- Encourage creativity and risk-taking
Risk and Controls
- Ensure all risks comply with regulatory and compliance checks are all performed within the underwriting guideline adhering to all Local and Group guidelines
- Implement and maintain process controls to ensure the quality of the output of your area within the function. Ensure documentation of the processes and output is accurate, up-to-date and accessible
Process Improvement
- Drive forward process improvements and efficiencies for the function
- Enhance and improve the effectiveness of the service and systems used in the Operations team and if needed participate in special underwriting projects if required
Credit Control
- Reconcile and investigate accounting queries from Technical operations team including weekly DSIGN report and individual account queries
Reporting
- Understand reporting environment and assist with team KPI/ Regulatory reporting when required
- Analysis of data and/or preparing reports for own & underwriters purpose
