Opportunity
As an Actuarial Assistant joining our North American Casualty Division and Global Actuarial Team in our Boston office, you will engage in a wide variety of projects, with a heavy emphasis on large account pricing, the enhancement of technical actuarial raters, and the analysis of large, internal loss and exposure datasets.

Accountabilities
- Develop, implement, and maintain quantitative diagnostic tools to be used by underwriters and actuaries in pricing individual risks and managing a portfolio of business.
- Provide insights into the company’s business using the combination of tools needed to best complete each task (e.g. SQL queries, Excel).
- Help optimize existing processes and data structures by designing and writing new code.
- Provide technical support, as needed, to underwriters in Excel and SQL.
- Collaborate with offshore resources to improve business processes and increase efficiency.
- Collaborate with other departments, such as Underwriting, IT, and Claims, in the development and integration of actuarial systems that are evolving as the company continues its growth.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree, or equivalent training; with proven math and analytical skills as normally acquired through the pursuit of a bachelor’s degree in mathematics, economics, actuarial science, or related field.
- A commitment to pursuing the FCAS designation; successful completion of two actuarial exams is preferred.
- Proficiency in SQL, R, or similar language is preferred, although not required if candidate has proficiency in other languages or has an aptitude for programing. Advance VBA experience is a plus.
- Effective written and verbal communication skills
- Experience with MS Office Applications (i.e. Word, Excel, etc.), with intermediate to advanced level Excel skills.

The base salary for this position in Boston is $70,000, along with annual bonus eligibility. Total compensation for a candidate is determined by their relevant skills, location, and experience. We value our teammates – both their capabilities and character – as demonstrated by our amazing culture.
