Amwins is seeking adaptable, driven and detail-oriented individuals to join our
CST Surplus Lines Tax Team as a Data Analyst. This person will be given the opportunity to learn and develop various skills that will assist the Amwins CST Operations Team throughout the fast-paced data analysis process. The Data Analyst is responsible for developing, creating, and running operational reports, automating existing reporting, resolving bugs and defects as necessary, and delivering analysis and insights to our business partners. Our ideal candidate will have excellent analytical, process improvement, and communication skills. They will experience a wide range of problem-solving situations, both strategic and in real-time, requiring an extensive understanding of data collection and analysis.

Responsibilities
- Prepare weekly reports by collecting, analyzing, and summarizing information on key metrics specific to functional areas
- Handle unique data analysis requests, conduct root cause analysis, and recommend corrective actions for a range of functions
- Provide valuable analytics and insights to functions throughout the business
- Improve and automate existing reports
- Regularly review reporting, update leadership on operational trends, and make recommendations on improvement opportunities
- Review and ensure all data points and reports are accurate and up to date, and escalate any issues to the proper channels for quick resolution
- Effectively identify problems that impact the work and analyze problems in a systematic and timely manner
- Meet all project deadlines or coordinate with the appropriate parties on any issues or barriers
Qualifications - 1-3 years of experience in data analytics
- Proficient in SQL
- Basic knowledge of functions & stored procedures
- Optimization
- Creating temporary tables & global tables
- Proper use of variables
- Debugging skills
- Proficient in Power BI backend buildout
- Interpreting program specs, sample files and templates
- Experience creating procedural documentation
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (focused on MS Excel), or related software
- Demonstrated analytical ability to support data-driven decisions, and measure and analyze the impact of those decisions
- Ability to execute high-quality work on assigned tasks within specified timelines
- Demonstrate a comfort level/experience with written communication with various levels of internal stakeholders and external suppliers
- Works well independently and as part of a team
- Self-starter comfortable working in a fast-paced environment
- Candidates with superior analytical skills in any industry are encouraged to apply; insurance industry highly preferred
- Knowledge of surplus lines tax highly preferred
- Understanding various coding languages preferred
- Bachelor’s degree with relevant coursework in areas such as, but not limited to, business, data analytics, math, statistics, or computer science
