Role Summary:
We’re seeking a highly capable and hands-on Enterprise Solution Architect to lead the design and development of Vave’s technology platform. This role requires a strong engineering background, a solid grasp of insurance systems, and the agility to thrive in a fast-paced startup environment. Prior experience designing & building scalable, cloud-native insurance applications within the Azure ecosystem is required for this role.
Key Responsibilities:
- Solution Architecture & Design
- Design and evolve enterprise-grade solutions using Azure services and the C#/.NET web application stack.
- Define and maintain architectural standards, patterns, and best practices across the technology landscape.
- Lead the design of microservices, APIs, and event-driven systems.
- Engineering Leadership
- Collaborate with delivery teams to ensure architectural integrity and technical excellence.
- Provide hands-on coding support and technical mentorship.
- Conduct design and code reviews to ensure quality and scalability.
- Enterprise Architecture & Governance
- Ensure consistent architectural decision-making across projects.
- Maintain and evolve target state architecture documentation, ensuring alignment with strategic technology goals.
- Manage architectural risk and ensure alignment with strategic delivery goals.
- Domain Expertise
- Translate insurance business requirements into robust technical solutions.
- Architect systems that support core insurance functions such as policy administration, claims, billing, and data analytics.
- Security Expertise Architecture
- Design secure, compliant architectures aligned with insurance regulations
- Lead threat modelling and security design reviews.
- Collaborate with cybersecurity experts
- Startup Execution
- Operate effectively in a lean, agile environment with evolving business needs and rapid delivery cycles.
- Lead rapid prototyping, to balance strategic thinking with tactical execution.
- Stakeholder Collaboration
- Work closely with product managers, underwriters, and operations to align technology with business goals.
- Communicate complex technical concepts clearly to non-technical stakeholders.
Required Skills & Experience:
- Technical Skills
- Experience with microservices architecture, API-first design, and event-driven systems.
- Familiarity with CI/CD, Infrastructure as Code (IaC), and containerization (Docker/Kubernetes).
- Strong proficiency in C#, .NET Core, Azure Functions, App Services, Azure DevOps, and SQL/NoSQL databases.
- Insurance Domain Knowledge
- Detailed understanding of insurance workflows and systems
- Experience integrating with or building insurance platforms and data models.
- Exposure to US property catastrophe (cat) risk modelling platforms and data sources.
- Startup Experience
- Proven success in a fast-paced (or Insurtech) environment.
- Comfortable navigating ambiguity, adapting to rapid change, and collaborating across diverse teams.
- Soft Skills
- Excellent communication and leadership skills.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
- Ability to mentor and influence across teams.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Solutions Architect certification or equivalent.
- Experience with enterprise architecture modelling tools
- Familiarity with regulatory and compliance requirements in insurance (e.g. GDPR, Solvency II, Lloyd’s standards).
