Description
Are you looking to start or build your career in insurance and have a keen eye for detail? We are seeking an enthusiastic and proactive Underwriting Assistant to join our Melbourne Casualty team and support our growing Casualty portfolio.
About the role:
Reporting to the National Manager – Casualty, you’ll play a vital role in supporting the underwriting team, servicing brokers, and ensuring the smooth running of day-to-day operations. This is a fantastic opportunity to develop technical expertise, strengthen broker relationships, and contribute to a high-performing team.
You’ll be responsible for assisting with renewals, preparing quotes, managing policy documentation, and supporting underwriters with administrative and pre-underwriting tasks.

Responsibilities Include:
- Support renewals, new business, and policy documentation
- Prepare pre-renewal and underwriting quotes
- Process policy endorsements and manage cancellations
- Assist in maintaining broker relationships by ensuring timely and professional communication
- Maintain shared inbox and accurate records across systems and escalate queries as needed
- Support the preparation of quote documentation, proposals, and renewal presentations
About You:
- Completion of secondary education
- 1-2 years’ experience within an insurance, underwriting or broker context and an understanding of the Australian insurance market is highly regarded
- Experience working in a busy, high-volume administrative or operational role.
- Positive, professional, can-do attitude with a strong sense of accountability
- Excellent customer service skills, including written and verbal communication skills
- Excellent attention to detail and organisational skills with the ability to calmly navigate competing priorities
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office and comfortable with IT systems
