Who are we?
Howden is a global insurance group with employee ownership at its heart. Together, we have pushed the boundaries of insurance. We are united by a shared passion and no-limits mindset, and our strength lies in our ability to collaborate as a powerful international team comprised of 23,000 employees spanning over 56 countries.
People join Howden for many different reasons, but they stay for the same one: our culture. It’s what sets us apart, and the reason our employees have been turning down headhunters for years. Whatever your priorities – work / life balance, career progression, sustainability, volunteering – you’ll find like-minded people driving change at Howden.
The role
This role acts as a key liaison between clients and insurers, ensuring that claims are handled efficiently, accurately, and in line with regulatory standards. You’ll be responsible for delivering a high level of service while managing claims processes, maintaining strong relationships with stakeholders, and supporting the wider team with technical and administrative tasks.
As you grow in the role, you’ll take on more responsibility for managing your own workload and supporting less experienced team members. You’ll also contribute to projects, provide management information, and ensure compliance with internal policies and external regulations.
What you’ll be doing
Liaising with clients, insurers, and third parties to manage and resolve claims efficiently.
Preparing and presenting claims documentation to underwriters and responding to queries.
Maintaining accurate and up-to-date records on internal systems.
Supporting the negotiation of claims settlements to achieve the best outcomes for clients.
Monitoring delegated authority contracts and ensuring cost-effective management.
Providing updates and guidance to clients throughout the claims process.
Assisting with internal projects and contributing to team objectives.
Ensuring compliance with legal, regulatory, and company procedures.
Supporting the processing of collections, payments, and related data.
Building strong relationships with clients and internal stakeholders.
Who we’re looking for
Ideally has some experience in a claims role, particularly within an international broker (though not essential).
Understands the general principles of insurance and the claims-handling process.
Familiar with London market operations (Lloyd’s and company markets).
A team player with strong interpersonal and communication skills.
Highly organised and able to manage multiple priorities.
Comfortable working under pressure and to tight deadlines.
Proactive, with the ability to work independently and use initiative.
Commercially aware with good analytical and decision-making skills.
Able to build and maintain strong working relationships.
Willing to support and mentor less experienced team members.
