Description
The Head of Underwriting Operations is a senior leadership role, responsible for driving operational excellence, strategic transformation, and high-performance culture across CFC USA.
About the role
You will partner with functional stakeholders and leaders both locally and in the UK to deliver efficient, compliant, and innovative operational activities that enable and drive profitable growth by:
- Developing and executing a strategic vision for Underwriting Operations, aligning with global organisational strategy and goals
- Championing operational best practices, including automation, AI integration, and process optimisation to drive efficiency, scalability, and underwriting excellence.
- Leading transformation initiatives, including system implementations, process redesign, and digitalisation of underwriting workflows.
- Lead, mentor, and develop a high-performing Underwriting operations team, fostering a collaborative and innovative culture.
- Driving continuous improvement, standardisation, and documentation of underwriting processes, ensuring robust governance and compliance.
- Overseeing operational governance and filings and management information (MI)
- Ensuring strong control, compliance, and risk management standards are maintained, including oversight licensing, authority frameworks and binder agreements.
- Collaborating cross-functionally with Underwriting, Finance, Claims, Compliance, Technology, and Legal teams to ensure seamless end-to-end operations of CFC USA
- Influence and engage with executive-level internal and external stakeholders, representing Underwriting Operations at industry events
- Driving continuous improvement through data-driven insights, process evaluation, and adoption of best-in-class methodologies
About you
- Proven leadership experience in underwriting operations within the US insurance market
- Demonstrated expertise in operational governance, compliance, and risk management frameworks.
- Strong technical understanding of commercial underwriting and insurance industry dynamics.
- Experience with large-scale transformation, change management, and digitalisation initiatives.
- Outstanding communication and stakeholder management skills, with the ability to influence at executive level.
- Track record of building and leading diverse, high-performing teams.
- Analytical, detail-oriented, and forward-thinking, with a commitment to excellence and innovation.
