Reporting to the Vice President, Specialty Lines Solutions, the AVP, MGA Distribution Strategy is responsible for strategically developing and expanding our MGA partnerships across the country and supporting Sovereign’s growth objectives with a focus on accelerating profitability through the delegated authority distribution model. This role will contribute to the building of our sales capabilities internally and will provide additional opportunities for cross-selling opportunities for other lines or business areas.
How you will create impact:
- In partnership with the AVP, Head of Strategic Partners, EB and MGA Ops, lead the development, implementation and achievement of the MGA portfolio strategy, including top and bottom-line plans and related budgets
- Identify and cultivate strategic alliances with MGA distribution channels, marketing Sovereign’s unique value proposition and capitalizing on opportunities for insurance solution expansion
- Build and maintain relationships with internal partners to support the successful execution of opportunities or to support cross-sale initiatives
- Define Sovereign’s strategy, vision, and direction for identifying and sourcing new MGA opportunities and partnerships and ensuring alignment with our capabilities, appetite and growth targets.
- Understand the regulatory risk to influence and maintain compliant business processes and controls in the day-to-day operations. Setting the tone, leading by example, and fostering ongoing communication and promotion of the compliance culture.
- Monitor that MGA partners are achieving their targets and work collaboratively with the AVP, Head of Strategic Partners, EB and MGA Ops, and other MGA team members to support actions
- Accelerate Sovereign’s MGA Brand through events, training or conferences, and partnering with marketing on materials and web or social media content
To join our team:
- 10+ years’ experience in the insurance industry in progressive leadership roles, with a focus on commercial and specialty insurance marketplace; products, distribution channels, practices and processes
- Proven experience building and executing strategic plans and initiatives
- Strong and established brand with external MGA partners
- Strong ability to align communication and approach to intended audience
- Proven ability to influence thinking and negotiate agreements.
- Exceptional ability to build cross-functional business partnerships

Expected Salary Range: $131,124 - $218,540
The salary amount for the successful candidate is determined by Sovereign in its discretion and will vary depending on several criteria including but not limited to: local market conditions, geography and relevant job-related factors such as knowledge, skills, qualification, experience and education.
Employees may also have the opportunity to participate in incentive programs and earn additional compensation tied to individual
