Reporting to the Vice President, Finance, Claims and Strategy, the AVP, Finance will provide leadership, strategic direction and manage a team responsible for decision support, planning, business reporting and analytics and accounts receivables The successful candidate will have a strong understanding of the intricate relationships between business strategies, tactics, budgets, and deliverables to recommend changes, enabling the organization to meet the financial objectives. Having an acute perception of the dimensions of business matters and the ability to make sense out of complexity, you think strategically and take appropriate action. With thoughtful analysis, clear logic and a close attention to detail you, are cognizant of the challenges to secure the company with a competitive position in the market.
How you will create impact:
- Define the strategy, vision and direction for the Finance group
- Development and application of sophisticated accounting and data modeling techniques to produce reasoned and supportable conclusions including: Reinsurance modeling, Actuarial modeling and Pro-forma financial statement production and analysis
- Partnering with business teams on assessing viability of new business opportunities, including development of models to project Cat Reinsurance Costs, long term profitability, contingent commission, challenging expense utilization amongst others.
- Oversee the delivery of all aspects of financial reporting, financial analytics and planning including the production of quarterly business reports, audit committee reports, expense reports, annual plan book, and 4 Year Strategic Plan to company management, group management, board and committees.
To join our team:
- You have 10+ years of experience in various finance functions, in progressive leadership roles
- You have a post-secondary degree in Finance/Accounting, Business or a related discipline.
- You hold a professional accounting designation or appropriate professional qualifications (CPA, CFA, and/or MBA).
- You are an experienced people leader, well-skilled in leading and coaching a high-performance team with the ability to drive commitment, engage teams and remove obstacles.
- You have a demonstrated capacity to handle complex, diversified information, streamline it, and use it to generate actionable insights for your stakeholders.
- You have a strong ability to collaborate with business partners and provide financial analysis in support of their strategy.
- You have a highly developed understanding of the financial services industry, operations, risk, opportunities, techniques and tools used to manage the financial aspects of a multi-entity, multi-line insurance organization.

Expected Salary Range: $131,124 -- $218,540
The salary amount for the successful candidate is determined by Co-operators in its discretion and will vary depending on several criteria including but not limited to: local market conditions, geography and relevant job-related factors such as knowledge, skills, qualification, experience and education.
Employees may also have the opportunity to participate in incentive programs and earn additional compensation tied to individual and/or business performance, or other business metrics.
