We have an existing opportunity to add a Fire Investigator to our Alberta team!
The successful applicant will be responsible for performing forensic fire investigations to determine the origin and cause for structure and vehicle fires. Strong written and verbal communication skills are a must. Working knowledge of the Microsoft Office suite of programs is a must. Good presentation skills are an asset. Must be able to communicate effectively with clients and other stakeholders. In this position, you will join a highly creative and collaborative team dedicated to innovative problem solving and design excellence. A willingness to travel is a must.
Role Responsibilities:
- Assess, analyze and report on the origin and cause fires.
- Interview witnesses, service personnel and other local officials.
- Inspections shall include, but not be limited to, roofs, attics, crawlspaces, partially destroyed buildings, fire damaged buildings, and elevated structures.
- Able to recognize potential subrogation opportunities.
- The ability to climb, work at heights, and work at all temperatures is required.
- The ability to assess the general safety of damaged fire structures is essential.
- Lead project(s) from start to finish.
- Provide clear, accurate, and timely reports.
Qualifications and Experience:
- Minimum CFEI, CFI, or CVFI, or the ability to become certified is a must.
- Minimum 5-7 years of relevant experience.
- Preferably including a strong background in fire research or equivalent work experience.
- Experience within the insurance and legal industry is a must.
- A demonstrated track record of taking projects to successful completion.
- Proficient in standard Microsoft Office (MS Word, Outlook & Excel).
- A strong understanding of the Fire Code.
- Class G driver’s license or equivalent as recognized by Province of employment.
- Positive, self-driven, motivated, personal attitude.
- A willingness and passion to support the marketing and sales department through attendance at presentations and industry events.
- Customer facing experience: Ability to discuss projects budgets with clients and maintain continuous communications throughout the project.
