Senior Financial Analyst – Corporate Treasury
The Senior Financial Analyst, Corporate Treasury has the unique opportunity to participate in a wide range of activities as part of the Corporate Treasury team of a growing public company, including capital planning, forecasting, effective allocation, and optimization initiatives:
What can you expect in this role?
Actively participate in treasury activities as a public company, including:
- Raising capital (debt, preferred shares and hybrid securities, equity, etc.)
- Analyzing and optimizing cost of capital
- Shareholder distributions, including dividends and share buybacks
- M&A due diligence, funding and integration
- Intercorporate transactions
- Regularly prepare and present capital management analysis and recommendations to senior leaders and the board of directors
- Perform risk-adjusted return on capital modeling and make recommendations to senior leaders to help improve financial results
- Lead the preparation of financial analysis, including building and adapting complex models to address requests from senior leaders, investors, regulators or credit rating agencies
- Monitor and propose actions to maintain regulatory capital ratios within our target range and ensure they remain in-line with our risk appetite
- Contribute to the quarterly and annual business plan and short-term forecasting processes by preparing the investment income, balance sheet, cash flow, KPIs and capital forecasts
- Support the ongoing preparation of capital-related investor relations materials including key messaging on capital management strategy and execution
- Engage in the annual credit rating process, including preparing management presentations and performing credit rating modeling
- Work closely with a variety of teams including Corporate Development, Corporate Finance, Legal, Investments, Actuarial, Risk and Reinsurance
What do you bring to this role?
- Completed university degree, preferably in Accounting, Business Administration or Finance
- CPA or CFA designation (completed or nearing qualification) strongly preferred
- 3-6 years of finance experience in any of the following areas: financial statement analysis, corporate development, budgeting/forecasting, financial reporting, public accounting, or similar
- Demonstrated proficiency with Excel and strong financial modeling skills (ideally practical experience)
- Ability to analyze and understand the implications of business activities on the financial statements; experience with IFRS and public company reporting is an asset
- Excellent attention to detail and proficient analytical skills
- Ability to produce clear reports and presentations, including strong working knowledge of PowerPoint
- Strong written and verbal communication skills and ability to interact with all levels of the organization, including C-level executives
- Ability to work effectively in a team and independently with minimal supervision
- Self-starter who can identify opportunities for improvement and execute on them
- Prior experience in financial services industries in general, and insurance specifically, would be an asset but is not required
High degree of proficiency with English and French required to service customers, both internal to the company and external, across Canada.
Salary Range: $77,800-129,600
