What is the role?
We are seeking a skilled and motivated International Casualty Senior Broker to support and advance casualty placements for U.S.-based clients with global exposures. This mid‑level role requires solid technical knowledge, strong market awareness, and the ability to collaborate effectively across international teams to deliver high‑quality broking solutions.
What will you be doing?
Maintain a strong understanding of carrier appetite, capabilities, emerging trends, and global market dynamics impacting international casualty programs for U.S. clients.
Support negotiations with domestic and international markets to secure competitive terms, conditions, and pricing on behalf of Howden’s internal and external clients.
Contribute to the design and execution of placement strategies, bringing forward thoughtful structuring ideas and differentiated market approaches during new business and renewal cycles.
Apply and advise on risk financing concepts—including captives, alternative risk structures, and multinational program design—while supporting the broader strategic direction of the Casualty practice.
Partner closely with the Multinational Servicing team, the HowdenOne network, and global Casualty colleagues to ensure seamless execution and governance across multinational programs.
Build and share knowledge on Howden’s international capabilities, the HowdenOne Network, and country‑specific considerations that influence casualty placements.
Collaborate with and support junior team members as needed, contributing to a culture of quality, learning, and continuous improvement.
Participate in client meetings, strategic discussions, and market engagements to reinforce Howden’s position as a trusted global advisor.
What are we looking for?
Qualifications:
Bachelor’s Degree required; advanced degree or industry designations (e.g., CPCU, ARM) preferred
4–10+ years of experience in underwriting or broking international casualty placements for U.S.-based clients
Demonstrated success leading complex placements and negotiating with global markets
Exceptional communication, advisory, and relationship‑building skills
Strong analytical and strategic thinking capabilities, with the ability to influence senior stakeholders
Proven ability to thrive in a fast‑paced, collaborative, and globally connected environment
Experience mentoring or guiding junior team members is a plus
Compensation and Benefits
The expected base salary range for this role is $160,000 - $280,000+; actual base salary will be determined based on factors including candidate experience and work location. This role is classified as [non-exempt] under the Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA).
