Reporting to the EVP and COO, the Senior Manager, Sovereign Executive Operations will act as a trusted partner to Sovereign’s executive leaders to drive operational efficiencies and execute on strategic initiatives. This role will oversee cross-functional initiatives while ensuring Sovereign Executive Team (SET) is engaging on the right priorities, issues and opportunities that are aligned to Sovereign’s business outcomes. The idea candidate is comfortable with ambiguity, working in a fast and dynamic environment, exercising critical thinking and strategic communication skills, and has a strong bias to action.
How you will create impact:
- Actively prepare Sovereign’s EVP and COO with the required information, through proactive research and collection (background, key messages, business or financial data, intel or outcomes) for attendance at external partner engagements and industry events and/or internal presentations, meetings or events.
- Actively partner with other SET Members to develop, execute, communicate and track strategic business plans, goals, KPIs and vision.
- Lead and/or direct ad hoc strategic projects as required (examples: divestitures, mergers, regulatory/compliance, etc.) and act as a key contact to internal departments, external vendors and third-party contacts.
- Lead SET meetings; set the agenda, invite constituents, managing flow and ensuring outcomes are documented, communicated and effectively managed.
- Work with the Corporate Communications/Marketing team to ensure SET internal and external profile is appropriately managed and that they are able to get the appropriate messages across to key audiences, as necessary.
- Prepare and/or co-ordinate production of summary reports, translations, papers, presentations, research, etc. for the SET as required to support efficiency and informed decision-making and ensuring action on key priorities.
- Maintain current project and initiative log, monitoring progress, reminding SET and internal and/or external parties of obligations and generally ensuring timely action by all relevant parties.
- Work across the organization to identify and manage repeatable and operational activities on the SET’s behalf to enable efficiency and consistency, while freeing up time for leaders to focus on top priorities.
- Coaching and developing your team, recruiting and selecting talent, managing and rewarding performance, and fostering an agile culture to deliver on strategic objectives.

To join our team:
- Completion of a degree in Business Administration/Commerce/Finance or related discipline
- Change management certifications. PMP Designation and/or CPA designation (or working towards) would be an asset.
- Understanding of financial or statistical models.
- 5-10 years’ experience in the insurance industry (Commercial Insurance preferred)
- 5-7 Managerial experience including experience in a strategic leadership role
- Comprehensive knowledge of business strategy, business models and operations.
- Ability to build consensus and successfully manage and resolve contentious issues and conflicts across diverse stakeholder groups, and move the business forward
- Experience influencing and coaching senior leadership
- Bilingual – English/French is an asset

Expected salary/hourly range $114,021- $164,000+
The salary amount for the successful candidate is determined by Sovereign in its discretion and will vary depending on several criteria including but not limited to: local market conditions, geography and relevant job-related factors such as knowledge, skills, qualification, experience and education.
Employees may also have the opportunity to participate in incentive programs and earn additional compensation tied to individual and/or business performance, or other business metrics.
