Reporting to the AVP, Talent and Internal Communications, this role is responsible for defining, aligning, and evolving Sovereign’s internal communication to support its corporate strategy, workplace culture, and employee experience. The role leads a high-performing, outcomes-driven team to support executive vision and voice, corporate communication strategies, employee experience programs, and internal channels and events.
As Sovereign’s employer brand leader, internal corporate storyteller, and employee communication channel owner, the role collaborates closely with Sovereign’s senior leaders (VPs, AVPs) to reflect the voices, vision, culture and strategy of the organization. As a trusted business partner, the role supports the team’s consultants as they partner with all areas of the organization to elevate Sovereign’s employer value proposition.
How you will create impact:
- Oversee the direction and implementation of strategic internal communications, across all internal channels, in support of our organizational strategy, change readiness, and talent experience
- Lead planning discussions (or support consultants) with senior leaders to develop and implement strategic communication that elevates the employee experience
- Oversee the consistent promotion of Sovereign’s employer brand in alignment with organizational brand; flow these strategies through all internal comms touchpoints, including employee acquisition, onboarding, experience and leader development
- Oversee team performance goal setting and monitoring achievement; assigning and reviewing work of others.

To join our team:
- You have a minimum of 6 years of progressive strategic communications/marketing experience, with at least 4 years of people leadership experience.
- Experience in insurance or other financial services preferred.
- You have a post-secondary diploma in Communications, Public Relations, Marketing, Journalism or a related discipline.
- Having the International Association of Business Communicators (IABC) or Canadian Public Relations Society accreditation(s) is an asset.
- Being bilingual (English and French) would be considered an asset.
- You have working knowledge of all product lines, operational processes and the application of communication principles and best practices.

Expected salary/hourly range $91,058- $141,000+
The salary amount for the successful candidate is determined by Co-operators in its discretion and will vary depending on several criteria including but not limited to: local market conditions, geography and relevant job-related factors such as knowledge, skills, qualification, experience and education.
Employees may also have the opportunity to participate in incentive programs and earn additional compensation tied to individual and/or business performance, or other business metrics.
