The Role
The Specialist Consumer Products team are a market leading provider of creditor, affinity group A&H and mortgage insurance. The role involves assisting with the underwriting and managing a growing portfolio of international business, in line with the business plan and personal authority limits.
Responsibilities Will Include
- You will assess and underwrite renewal business targeting business plan loss ratios.
- Assist underwriters in assessing and underwriting new business opportunities.
- Underwriting individual referrals.
- Developing and maintaining relationships with brokers and clients.
- Ensuring compliance with regulatory and internal procedures.
- Developing a clear understanding of Consumer Duty, Fair Value measures and other FCA conduct guidance.
- You will prepare binders and slips for renewals, ensuring all internal processes are followed.
- You will participate in the product review process and review those products particularly allocated to you.
- Actively participating in monthly SCP team reporting and SCP Claims meetings.
- Compiling monthly underwriting reports.
- You will develop effective working relationships with other teams including Conduct, Delegated Underwriting Management and Compliance.
- In conjunction with the Head of Technical Underwriting, review and finalise contract wordings and customer documentation to maintain compliance with regulation and in light of Consumer Duty.
Skills And Experience
- Ability to exercise sound underwriting judgement based upon detailed risk analysis
- General knowledge of insurance and underwriting within the Lloyd’s marketplace
- Strong communication skills
- Strong IT skills, particularly Microsoft Excel, Power BI and Word
- Analytical and problem solving skills
- Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines
- A desire to expand knowledge within the industries that we work in via professional exams and practical participation
