Job Purpose
Engineer Surveyors play a vital role in keeping the UK industry safe, compliant, and operating at their best. In this exciting field-based role, you will apply your technical expertise to work with a wide range of clients to complete thorough examinations and inspections on Power Press equipment.
The role of the Power Press Engineer Surveyor is a mobile role that requires you to plan your work efficiently and effectively ensuring our Power Press and other customers have their services delivered on time to ensure their equipment is never overdue.
To be effective you will work remotely, travel nationally and stay overnight as required within your working week. You will be responsible for the efficient and cost-effective planning to ensure any working away is seen as been necessary to deliver services on time and in full.
The requirement to work away from home as required to deliver the service forms part of your contractual agreement with the company and so the role would suit someone who enjoys travel and is happy to stay away from home during the week. This may be for several nights at a time or as and when the planning of work dictates the service level requirements.

Typical responsibilities of an Engineer Surveyor include but are not limited to:
- As a Power Press Engineer surveyor, you will be responsible for the planning and scheduling of your own work and managing your own diary. Therefore, it is essential that you plan a full meaningful workdays by planning and arranging all work-related activities in an effective, timely and efficient manner, with an accurate account of all time involved being recorded.
- Good planning of your work and effective management will assist you in meeting defined operational performance metrics, which include efficiently maintaining schedule inspection dates across your designated inspection portfolio.
- As Power Press inspections often require planning and preparation by the customer to facilitate your visit, timely and clear communication on your visits and requirements with the customers is essential. On occasions, this may also involve communication with third party contractors employed by the customer.
- Ensuring that items examined / inspected are in accordance with applicable standards or accepted codes of practice, with reports compiled to the required standard.
- With each examination you complete, you will be required to produce reports for your client which they will use to help them comply with relevant regulations.
- At HSB, the safety of our Engineer Surveyors and Clients is our top priority, therefore you will be required to work in accordance with our RAMS, company procedures and client specific procedures to ensure that the highest standards are upheld and maintained at all times.
- Provide, build and maintain excellent client relationships and ensure that all customer service standards are met.
- Provide training for other Engineer Surveyors as required, sharing knowledge and experiences.
- Maintain an awareness of developments in technical standards and legislation affecting the appropriate discipline and support change as required (suitable and sufficient levels of CPD to maintain profession competency).
- Actively promote HSB Services in your interactions with clients.
- As a Power Press Engineer Surveyor, there is no fixed place of work, and you are required to attend the premises of the Company’s clients to execute your duties, which may involve travel throughout the UK and overnight stays.
Skills & Experience
- 5 years of suitable experience in an Engineering related field.
- Knowledge/understanding of statutory regulations, such as, PUWER and British Standards and HSG236. Ability to follow and apply statutory requirements and guidelines and company defined policies, processes and procedures.
- Experience of NDT techniques and a relevant NDT qualification would be advantageous
- Ability to communicate clearly at all levels.
- Able to work unsupervised and under your own initiative.
- Experienced at work planning & time management.
- Good IT skills and able to operate Microsoft and Apple packages .

Qualifications and Educational Requirements:
Level 4 Engineering qualification such as a HNC or equivalent in a suitable Engineering or related STEM subject is desirable. However, a Level 3 Engineering qualification such as an NVQ3 and proven practical experience within a power press engineering related discipline will be considered depending upon experience
