Are you a motivated, commercially minded underwriting professional with a passion for technology-driven risks? We are seeking a proactive and relationship-focused Underwriter to join our Sydney Tech, Media & IP team and support our growing Tech, Media & IP portfolio.
About the role:
Reporting to the National Manager – Tech, Media & IP, you will be responsible for underwriting and developing a profitable portfolio across technology, media and intellectual property risks. This includes new business and renewal underwriting, supporting product development, and building strong broker relationships within a fast-evolving and innovation-led class of business.
This role is well suited to an Underwriter with 1–2 years’ experience, or an experienced Assistant Underwriter ready to step up into full underwriting responsibility within a supportive, high-performing team.

Responsibilities Include:
- Underwrite new business and renewals across Tech, Media & IP within delegated authority and underwriting guidelines
- Assess and price risks across Professional Indemnity / E&O, Cyber and related technology and media liability covers
- Contribute to portfolio growth through sound risk selection, renewal management and new business development
- Build and maintain strong broker relationships through responsive, high-quality service
- Clearly explain coverage intent, policy structure and enhancements to brokers
- Monitor portfolio performance, market trends and emerging risks
- Ensure compliance with underwriting standards, legislative requirements and internal policies
- Contribute to team initiatives and a collaborative, high-performance culture
About You:
- 2–3 years’ experience in insurance, ideally within underwriting or underwriting support
- Exposure to technology, professional indemnity, cyber or complex liability risks is advantageous
- Strong commercial judgement with an interest in portfolio growth and profitability
- Confident communicator with the ability to build credibility with brokers and stakeholders
- Analytical, organised and able to manage competing priorities
- Proactive, sales-oriented mindset and willingness to learn
- Proficient in Microsoft Office and underwriting systems
- ASIC RG146 Tier 1 (or working towards)
- A collaborative team player with a genuine interest in technology-led risks
