Job Description
Are you looking for your next opportunity?
Sompo has a unique opportunity for a Workday Delivery & Portfolio Manager in our Human Resources team.
Are you energized by leading strategic global projects, and ready to drive meaningful impact within an HR Tech team that utilizes Monday.com and Workday? Do you thrive on bringing structure, transparency, and accountability to delivery? If you are a disciplined Project Management professional who can connect strategy to execution while partnering across stakeholders, this opportunity is for you.
We need you to lead and oversee the implementation, optimization, and management of HR technology initiatives. This role requires a forward-thinking individual who can align HR technology solutions with organizational goals, streamline processes, and enhance employee experience. The ideal candidate will possess a blend of strategic thinking, project management expertise, and technical knowledge to drive successful HR technology transformations while collaborating closely with the broader HR project management team to ensure alignment with overall HR strategies and objectives.
This is not a system configuration role, it is a delivery leadership role requiring strong PM discipline, structured thinking, and stakeholder influence within a Workday-enabled environment.
Location: This position can be based out of our Alpharetta, GA or Lenexa KS office; or be remote in the US. We strive for collaboration which is why we offer a work environment where our employees thrive and develop long lasting careers.
Our business, your impact, our opportunity:
What You’ll Do
Project Leadership:
• Lead end-to-end project management for HR technology implementations, upgrades, integrations, and optimization initiatives, including those within Workday and related platforms.
• Define project scope, objectives, deliverables, timelines, budgets, and success metrics in alignment with organizational priorities.
• Develop and manage comprehensive project plans, RAID logs, milestone tracking, and executive-ready reporting.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams across HR, IT, Finance, and external vendors to ensure predictable and successful project delivery.
Strategic Planning:
• Contribute to the development and execution of HR technology strategies aligned with enterprise business objectives.
• Partner with leadership to prioritize initiatives within the Workday and HR Technology roadmap using structured intake and backlog governance in Monday.com.
• Identify opportunities for automation, process improvement, operational efficiency, and innovation across HR operations.
• Leverage portfolio data and capacity insights to inform sequencing, resource allocation, and long-term planning.
Stakeholder Management:
• Act as a primary point of contact between HR, IT, and business stakeholders for technology-related initiatives.
• Engage stakeholders to gather requirements, clarify expectations, provide structured updates, and surface risks proactively.
• Facilitate trade-off discussions and confidently guide scope and prioritization decisions to maintain alignment with strategic goals.
• Foster strong working relationships that promote transparency, accountability, and trust.
Technology Implementation Oversight:
• Lead implementation efforts across HR technologies including Workday, HRIS, ATS, payroll, learning, and performance systems.
• Oversee configuration alignment, testing cycles, deployment readiness, and vendor coordination without serving as a system administrator.
• Ensure data integrity, appropriate controls, and compliance with regulatory and security standards.
• Drive disciplined change control and release management practices.
Change Management:
• Develop and execute change management plans to support adoption of new technologies and process enhancements.
• Coordinate training, communication, and stakeholder readiness activities to ensure smooth transitions.
• Support stabilization efforts post-implementation to ensure sustained operational success.
Performance Analysis and Reporting:
• Monitor project progress and portfolio health using Monday.com dashboards and structured reporting frameworks.
• Measure outcomes against defined KPIs and success metrics.
• Conduct post-implementation reviews and recommend enhancements based on performance data and stakeholder feedback.
• Continuously refine delivery processes to improve predictability, transparency, and maturity across the HR Technology function.
Who You Are
• A highly organized, detail-oriented delivery leader who thrives on creating structure and driving predictable execution.
• Action-oriented and confident, able to drive momentum, establish clear priorities, and provide thoughtful guidance when trade-offs are needed, all while building and maintaining strong, trusted relationships with key stakeholders.
• A strong project manager and Scrum/Agile practitioner with the ability to implement agile processes proactively.
• Technically adept and comfortable using tools like Monday.com to build sprint dashboards, backlog reporting, and delivery metrics that tell a clear story of progress.
• A trusted partner with a dynamic communication style who works well across diverse stakeholders and fits a laid-back, excellence-driven team culture.
• A strategic thinker who can assess current state, recommend improvements, and help define the path forward, not just manage tasks.
What You Bring
• Proven experience (5+ years) in project management or a similar role.
• Strong knowledge of HR systems preferred (e.g., Workday, SAP SuccessFactors, Oracle HCM, ADP, or similar platforms).
• Project Management and/ or Scrum Master certification (e.g., PMP, PRINCE2, or Agile) is highly desirable.
• Excellent leadership, organizational, and communication skills.
• Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously and deliver results in a fast-paced environment.
• Analytical skills with experience in data-driven decision-making and problem-solving. Proficient in Excel and PowerPoint with intermediate skills in data analysis and presentation design.
• Familiarity with HR processes, compliance regulations, and best practices.
Why You’ll Love It Here
• Opportunity to lead innovative projects that impact the organization’s HR strategy and employee experience.
• Work in a dynamic and collaborative environment with a focus on professional growth and development.
