Job Description
As part of a well established and sizeable London Market Cyber & Technology E&O underwriting team, the role will sit alongside experienced underwriters within the team. Strong broker relationships will be critical to ensuring that new business production of open market opportunity will be delivered in this role, and a contemporary knowledge of and perspective on security controls will ensure that the underwriter will be able to play their part in maintaining the healthy and rigorous challenge that is actively encouraged on this topic at Canopius.
Underwriters work closely with our proactive client services, claims and cyber incident management teams to offer our clients a full value cyber proposition.
The successful candidate will underwrite and develop Cyber and Technology E&O risks for syndicate 4444, as directed by the Head of Technology & Cyber, London Market, in order to meet the requirements of the business plans and the strategic targets for premium income, profitability and return on capital as set out by the Board. This is a global book of business which includes US, EMEA, Asia Pac and ROW, made up of SME delegation and large accounts transacted in the open market.
Key Responsibilities
- New business production and development of key broker relationships.
- Manage renewal portfolio to ensure timely quotations, meeting reasonable broker deadlines.
- Manage and develop flow of new business enquiries and broker understanding of Canopius risk appetite.
- Attending client presentations and representing the Canopius offering.
- Assist with assessment of new and existing cover holder/binding authority opportunities with specific reference to pricing and data capture. Ability to work with pricing, data and exposure management teams to ensure accurate pricing and RDS modelling.
- Assist with daily referrals from cover holder/binding authority relationships.
- Review incoming bordereaux and track premium income and profitability against SBF.
- Demonstrate appropriate, consistent and complete consideration of our customers and potential customers’ interests, throughout our business, on a continuous basis.
Skills And Experience
- Working knowledge of cyber security, candidate should be able to identify and categorise risks against cyber control requirements and provide feedback on areas for improvement.
- Working knowledge of global privacy regulations.
- Ability to make sound decisions based on data and risk assessment and ability to make a positive impact on the long-term success of the overall business in planning, organisation and development.
- Good communicator, both verbally and written.
- Good computer skills including MS office.
- Working knowledge of developments within Privacy and Network Security Liability
- Ability to build relationships and develop own portfolio of Cyber & Technology business.
- Cyber coverage analysis skills – able to craft and develop wordings/endorsements.
- Relevant previous work experience
- Sound knowledge of Cyber & Technology Underwriting as an Underwriter, or in a Broking role with technical ability to make transition into Underwriting.
- Working knowledge of the Lloyd’s market.
