The Business Systems Analyst is responsible for analysis and documentation of business and system requirements that enable efficient, high-quality delivery of technological solutions. This role focuses on systems, workflows, and analysis while producing story-level requirements, workflow design and documentation, detailed specifications, data validation, and UAT preparation. This role will produce accurate, testable requirements that enable efficient and predictable delivery. This role supports the Direct value stream, focusing on internal systems and workflows across the quote, bind, issue, and servicing lifecycle. This includes initiatives with an emphasis on improving speed, efficiency, and operational effectiveness for underwriting and business teams.
The BSA partners closely with Product Owners, Engineers, QA, and Architecture to ensure requirements are clear, testable, and technically feasible, while operating under guidance for complex or cross-system decisions.
This role is preferred to be either full-time in office or hybrid in our Eatontown, NJ office. Fully remote option is available.
What you will do for C&F:
Requirements & Analysis Support
- Support multi-system internal initiatives by assisting in the analysis and documentation of business needs across underwriting and policy lifecycle workflows.
- Gather and document business and functional requirements for discrete stories and components.
- Clarify business needs through stakeholder discussions, interviews, and review sessions.
- Translate requirements into clear, testable documentation aligned to delivery needs.
Workflow & System Understanding
- Document current state and future state workflows across internal underwriting and operational systems under guidance.
- Analyze system interactions across policy administration, document generation, and supporting platforms.
- Document current‑state and future‑state workflows under guidance.
- Data and system analysis activities, including validation and mapping.
- Address system behavior, integrations, and downstream impacts.
Story & Specification Development
- Support development of requirements that enable efficient execution of underwriting and policy lifecycle processes.
- Deliver functional specifications, user stories, acceptance criteria, and supporting artifacts.
- Ensure documentation reflects Product Owner intent and is technically feasible for engineering implementation.
- Maintain clarity and traceability between business needs and delivered functionality.
Delivery & UAT Support
- Assist in validating that delivered functionality aligns to defined business and workflow needs.
- UAT preparation by drafting test scenarios and assisting business testers.
- Defect triage/resolution and clarification during testing cycles.
- Collaborate with PO, QA, and Engineering to resolve requirement questions during delivery.
Collaboration & Development
- Partner with underwriting, operations, and business stakeholders to support improvements in internal workflows and system usability.
- Actively participate in agile ceremonies including standups, backlog refinement, and planning sessions.
- Follow analysis standards, documentation practices, and delivery expectations.
- Escalate risks, ambiguities, or gaps in understanding to leadership, senior analysts or Product Owners.
- Meet key deliverables including but not limited to requirement clarity, timeliness, traceability, UAT outcomes.
- Other duties as assigned.
What you will bring to C&F:
- Bachelor’s degree from accredited institution or equivalent experience required.
- 3+ years of experience, preferably in a Business Analyst or Systems Analyst role.
- Strong technical/domain expertise and systems/process understanding.
- Insurance or financial services experience preferred.
- Foundational understanding of underwriting and policy lifecycle processes (quote, bind, issue, servicing) preferred
- A solid foundation in business and systems analysis, producing clear, testable requirements that support efficient delivery.
- Curiosity and drive to learn systems, workflows, and insurance domain concepts while contributing to active initiatives.
- Strong attention to detail, ensuring requirements clarity, traceability, and quality throughout the SDLC.
- A collaborative mindset and effective communication skills to work productively within cross‑functional agile teams.
- Exceptional technical writing skills.

Salary ranges are available for all positions at this location, taking into account roles with a comparable level of responsibility and impact in the relevant labor market and these salary ranges are regularly reviewed and adjusted in accordance with prevailing market conditions. The annualized base pay for the advertised position, located in the specified area, ranges from a minimum of $55,800.00 to a maximum of $104,900.00. The actual compensation is determined by various factors, including but not limited to the market pay for the jobs at each level, the responsibilities and skills required for each job, and the employee’s contribution (performance) in that role. To be considered within market range, a salary is at or above the minimum of the range. You may also have the opportunity to participate in discretionary equity (stock) based compensation and/or performance-based variable pay programs.
