JOB DESCRIPTION
The Scrum Master is responsible for enabling high ‑ performing , cross ‑ functional agile teams to deliver valuable outcomes in a predictable and sustainable way. Acting as a servant ‑ leader and coach, the Scrum Master embeds agile principles and practices, removes impediments, and fosters a culture of continuous improvement, collaboration, and transparency.
The role works closely with delivery teams, and stakeholders across Technology and the business to ensure effective planning, prioritisation, and delivery of change aligned to organisational objectives.
Responsibilities
Responsibilities will include:
Agile Delivery & Team Enablement
- Act as servant ‑ leader to one or more Scrum teams, promoting agile values, principles, and best practices.
- Facilitate all Scrum ceremonies, including Sprint Planning, Daily Scrum, Sprint Review, and Sprint Retrospective.
- Coach teams to become self ‑ organising , cross ‑ functional , and accountable for delivery outcomes.
- Support teams in estimation, refinement, sprint forecasting, and continuous improvement.
Coaching & Continuous Improvement
- Guide teams, Product Owners, and stakeholders in effective agile ways of working.
- Identify and address team impediments, escalating where necessary to ensure delivery flow.
- Foster a culture of learning, experimentation, and feedback.
- Actively contribute to the evolution of agile maturity across the organisation.
Stakeholder & Product Collaboration
- Partner with Product Owners to support backlog creation, refinement, prioritisation, and roadmap alignment.
- Facilitate workshops, product demos, and collaborative planning sessions.
- Support transparent communication between delivery teams and stakeholders.
- Assist stakeholders in understanding agile delivery metrics and outcomes.
Governance, Metrics & Reporting
- Track and communicate delivery metrics (e.g. velocity, throughput, flow, sprint outcomes).
- Provide insights to support planning, forecasting, and decision ‑ making .
- Ensure agile delivery aligns with broader technology governance, risk, and control expectations.
Wider Contribution
- Collaborate with other Scrum Masters and delivery professionals to improve consistency and standards.
- Support integration of third ‑ party suppliers or delivery partners where applicable.
- Contribute to organisational change initiatives and agile communities of practice.
Skills
QUALIFICATIONS
- Proven experience working as a Scrum Master within agile delivery teams.
- Strong understanding of Scrum, agile principles, and software delivery lifecycles.
- Excellent facilitation, coaching, and communication skills.
- Experience working with Product Owners, technology teams, and business stakeholders.
- Ability to identify and remove impediments and manage delivery risks.
- Experience in regulated or complex enterprise environments.
- Knowledge of complementary frameworks (e.g. Kanban, SAFe , Lean).
- Experience supporting data, finance, or platform ‑ based delivery teams.
- Scrum Master or Agile certification (e.g. PSM, CSM)
