CNA’s Long Term Care (LTC) business unit is not your typical slow moving insurance company; we have the resources of a large company behind us and operate with a start-up mindset. With a team of over 50 across multiple insurance disciplines of Operations, Claim, Anti-Fraud, Finance, Actuarial and Data Analytics, we move quickly and have clear insight into how we make an impact. With approximately $14b in reserves serving 300k policyholders, CNA’s LTC business is an important strategic priority for CNA.
This is an exciting opportunity to leverage financial expertise to support critical business processes and assist in advising business partners. This position works a flexible hybrid schedule from the CNA Chicago office (151 N Franklin St.) with a focus on professional development.
JOB DESCRIPTION:
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Performs a combination of duties in accordance with departmental guidelines:
Develop results analysis to contextualize performance against business unit financial and operational goals
Prepare monthly financial reporting results packages and support analysis to explain income statement results in close collaboration with Actuarial and Accounting partners
Prepare monthly management reporting results packages and supporting analysis in support of Claim and Operations leadership’s oversight of CNA’s third party administrators who manage CNA’s claims and policyholder interactions
Participate in annual financial planning process and reporting in close partnership with Actuarial and Operational teams
Manage monthly expense forecast assembly and reporting to enable informed decisions and contextualize business trajectory
Analyze company performance to generate insights relative to peer companies
Leverage financial expertise to recognize and resolve emerging issues, independently investigate anomalies and variances in data
Support decision-makers through effective verbal and written communication
Synthesize key insights, clearly and concisely communicating them with actionable recommendations to senior leadership
Drive process improvement and automation
May perform additional duties as assigned.
Reporting Relationship
Typically Director or above
Skills, Knowledge and Abilities
Strong knowledge of corporate and departmental accounting/finance practices, procedures and principles as well as solid knowledge of an insurance organization and industry
Advanced modeling skills including proficiency in Excel and analysis tools
Track record of delivering results with a high degree of accuracy
Ability to work independently and self-motivate in a rapidly changing environment
Ability to work with senior business partners within established deadlines
Familiarity with emerging AI technologies and a track record of incorporating them into workflows to enhance productivity and decision-making
Experience with BI tools, such as Tableau, PowerBI, or Looker
Experience with ETL tools, such as SQL or Alteryx, preferred but not required
Experience with Workday, Adaptive, and Google Cloud, preferred but not required
Education and Experience
Bachelor's degree in business, economics, finance, accounting, or equivalent
3 or more years of finance experience or a related analytical field with progressively increasing levels of responsibility

In certain jurisdictions, CNA is legally required to include a reasonable estimate of the compensation for this role. In District of Columbia,California, Colorado, Connecticut, Illinois, Maryland, Massachusetts, New York and Washington, the national base pay range for this job level is $54,000 to $103,000 annually. Salary determinations are based on various factors, including but not limited to, relevant work experience, skills, certifications and location.
