Job Description
This position will be an integral part of the Chubb Reinsurance Services accounting processing team that leverages cutting edge technology to efficiently manage billions of dollars in reinsurance. This position will maintain the accounting for assigned North American reinsurance agreements, including receivables, payables, cash application, collections, account reconciliation, experience-based adjustments and communication with third parties.
Responsibilities
- Prepare, disburse, and settle monthly and quarterly accounts in accordance with reinsurance contracts.
- Work internally and with third parties to verify receipt of billings, initiate collection of open balances in accordance with established procedures, respond to queries, resolve receivable and payable discrepancies, and elevate unresolved collection issues.
- Ability to interpret various reinsurance contract wordings and comply with contractual requirements.
- Assist with the preparation of monthly and quarterly ceded reinsurance financial reports.
- Prepare manual journal entries.
- Prepare periodic management reports to drive business decisions.
- Research and resolve accounting and statistical discrepancies.
Qualifications
- Bachelors Degree – Accounting, Finance, Mathematics, Actuarial, Business, or relative work experience in lieu of degree
- One to Three years of reinsurance or accounting experience
- Excellent organizational skills
- Ability to multitask and establish priorities to address objectives
- Ability to work independently and within a team
- Ability to identify/analyze situations or issues and determine practical/innovative solutions
- Excellent oral and written communication skills required
- Proficiency in First, Microsoft Excel, Microsoft Word, Microsoft Access, and PeopleSoft is preferred
