DLG is evolving. Across every facet of our business, our teams are embracing new opportunities and putting customers at the heart of everything they do. By joining them, you’ll have the opportunity to not just be recognised for your skills but encouraged to build upon them and empowered to do your absolute best.
What you’ll be doing:
We’re on a mission to ensure our internal control environment is not only compliant, but robust and effective in mitigating operational risk.
We’re looking for a strategic and experienced Head of Control Testing & Remediation to lead the team responsible for ensuring our controls are working as they should and that we’re actively learning and improving where they’re not.
This is a high-impact role, central to the Group’s risk management strategy.
You’ll be responsible for defining and delivering a control testing and remediation framework that not only meets regulatory requirements, but genuinely helps protect DLG from financial, operational, and reputational risks. You’ll lead a team of experts, work closely with internal and external stakeholders, and help to embed a culture of accountability, rigour and continuous improvement across the organisation.
Key responsibilities:
- Lead the development and implementation of our control testing strategy and framework, ensuring it aligns with regulatory expectations and industry best practice.
- Oversee control testing execution across the Group, ensuring key controls are tested effectively and results are clear, reliable, and timely.
- Identify control gaps and areas for improvement, and ensure remediation activity is clearly articulated, prioritised and delivered to a high standard.
- Own the remediation framework, ensuring actions demonstrate genuine risk reduction and deliver a stronger, evidenced control environment.
- Produce high-quality reporting for senior leadership, including key insights on control effectiveness, risk trends, and progress on remediation.
- Ensure compliance with relevant regulations and internal policies, adapting the control testing approach as the landscape evolves.
- Lead, develop and mentor a high-performing team, fostering a culture of collaboration, curiosity and accountability.
- Engage and influence key stakeholders, including second line risk, internal audit, and business units, to ensure a joined-up approach to control testing.
- Champion continuous improvement, identifying ways to enhance the efficiency, effectiveness, and impact of the control testing and remediation process.
What you'll need:
We’re looking for a strategic, collaborative leader with deep expertise in control testing and remediation.
- Significant experience in control testing, risk management, or related disciplines, ideally in a regulated environment.
- A proven track record of leading control testing and remediation programmes, with the ability to influence at senior levels.
- Strong understanding of internal control frameworks and regulatory compliance requirements.
- Excellent communication skills, with the ability to distil complex information into clear messages for senior leaders and stakeholders.
- Confidence in data and systems, including control testing and risk management tools.
- Demonstrated leadership capabilities, including building and developing effective, high-performing teams.
