Role overview
12 Month Fixed Term Contract:
The Financial Controls Specialist is a senior role within the DUAL Group Finance team with responsibility for overseeing the implementation of a group-wide controls framework and driving improvements in finance processes. This role primarily focuses on financial controls but also on supporting improvements in non-financial and operational controls.
The Finance Controls Specialist will work as part of the DUAL Group Finance team and will work closely with DUAL’s UK and international subsidiary finance teams, Howden Group Holdings (“HGH”) Finance and the HGH Financial Risk and Controls team.
The successful candidate will have experience of developing control environments in a complex group structure. Strong written and verbal communication and an ability to clearly articulate requirements to senior stakeholders is essential to this role.
Role responsibilities
- Communicate, develop and report on the controls assurance process and reconciliation processes across the DUAL Group
- Drive improvements in the quality, consistency and robustness of the existing reconciliations process
- Share and communicate best practice discipline across the DUAL Group
- Communicate deadlines and requirements and monitor/drive compliance with them
- Act as key finance contact and support for all subsidiary finance teams internationally
- Understand and deliver the requirements of the financial control framework
- Promote and communicate the expectations of the financial control framework to key stakeholders
- Support the local teams with financial control subject matter expertise to enhance existing controls or encourage implementation of new controls
- Support local teams remediate control gaps and help design controls where appropriate.
- Some international travel may be required
Key requirements
- Experience of developing control environments in a large international group
- Ability to work in a complex environment with competing priorities
- Motivated to grow and develop with the needs of the business
- We are flexible on place of work, however the successful candidate may be required to travel to the London office up to three times a week.
Desirable experience
- Experience of formal control environments, such as Sarbanes Oxley (SOX)
- Insurance market experience
- Internal or external audit experience
Professional Qualifications
- Qualified member of recognised accountancy body with 5+ years of post-qualified experience
