The opportunity:
The Change Delivery team shapes and leads the end-to-end delivery of MINT’s strategic programmes and operational change priorities in collaboration with business teams and IT. The team currently comprises of three main capabilities – business analysis, programme/project management and portfolio management office.
Best of Markel is about using existing products and capabilities to capitalise on market opportunities in different business lines and countries. You will work closely with senior underwriters in leading pilots and the full implementation of new platforms and products to grow premium. You may be required to support other types of projects across International subject to business priority.
What you’ll be doing:
Accountable for:
- Lead major business and technical projects and programmes supporting MINT strategic objectives
- Define and drive business benefits in solution outcomes, in line with specified tolerances of time, cost, quality and risk
- Business engagement from start up to closure to ensure agreement and adoption
- Quality and technical standards are met by changes delivered
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Responsible for building and recommending project and programme proposals in partnership with our stakeholders
- To determine approach, resource requirements and limitations
- Leading business case development for projects and programmes and tracking throughout delivery
- Planning and monitoring the programme, project and interrelated projects including stage and exception plans
- Managing and reporting project and programme risks, including the development of contingency plans
- Monitoring and reporting overall progress, resourcing and budget, initiating corrective action where necessary
- Maintaining project and programme governance, change control and configuration management
- Continuously driving lessons learned and scanning for opportunities at the portfolio and team level
- Working with IT stakeholders to ensure products are delivered to technical standards
- Working with the sponsor and team to ensure a smooth transition to business-as-usual position and ensuring benefits are owned and measured
Our must-haves:
- Significant experience of working in project management and driving business outcomes
- Strong leadership, interpersonal and communication skills
- Strong capability in project financial management
- Strong change management / business improvement experience
- Meticulous in planning and execution, delivering to tight timescales and high quality standards
- Knowledge & experience in vendor contract negotiation and management
- Knowledge & experience of Agile and Waterfall delivery methodology
- Solid understanding of MS applications and project management tools, for the planning, tracking and manipulation of project plans, data and MI
- Prince 2 or equivalent Project Management certification
- Strong knowledge and experience in delivering change and IT projects in the specialty insurance sector
- Knowledge and experience in delivering specialty products is highly desirable
