JOB SUMMARY
Director, Software Engineering or APM (Agile Program Manager) provides leadership in aligning information systems development with business objectives for assigned business applications and/or technologies. This role is primarily responsible for leading core cutover activities for a large-scale implementation involving diverse technologies and SaaS applications. The ideal candidate will have experience managing teams through complex system implementations, migrations, and acquisitions, and will be adept at coordinating multiple workstreams in parallel. A strong understanding of software development practices and the ability to interface with multiple project teams to aggregate plans into a unified view is essential.
This is a hybrid, twice-a-week, in-office role in our Jersey City or Raleigh Offices
Essential RESPONSIBILITIES and ACCOUNTABILITIES
- Lead and coordinate cutover planning and execution across multiple teams and technologies.
- Ensure effective and timely development and deployment of new and/or enhanced systems.
- Monitor all aspects of the Software Development Lifecycle and ensure high-quality production support.
- Collaborate with stakeholders to identify opportunities for technology to improve business processes.
- Prepare business cases and financial analyses for new systems and technologies.
- Oversee business analysis, development, and quality assurance for assigned initiatives.
- Develop and maintain strategic plans aligned with company objectives and budgets.
- Contribute to IT standards, policies, and procedures to ensure consistency and integration.
- Stay current with industry trends and emerging technologies.
- Participate in vendor evaluations and manage ongoing relationships.
- Manage team performance through recruitment, development, and recognition.
Knowledge & Skills
- A background in the commercial P&C insurance industry
- Broad knowledge of software development techniques, processes, and best practices.
- Proven experience managing large-scale system implementations, migrations, and acquisitions.
- Strong understanding of Agile development methodologies.
- Ability to manage complex business processes and multiple concurrent workstreams.
- Excellent communication, leadership, and stakeholder management skills.
- Strong strategic planning and decision-making capabilities.
- Familiarity with SaaS platforms and integration strategies.
- Experience with Guidewire software is a plus.
Education & Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or related field.
- 10+ years of experience in software development and architecture design.
- 5+ years of management experience, including project and team leadership.

For individuals assigned or hired to work in the location(s) indicated below, the base salary range is provided. Range is as of the time of posting. Position is incentive eligible.
$140,000 - $200,000/year
Total individual compensation (base salary, short & long-term incentives) offered will take into account a number of factors including but not limited to geographic location, scope & responsibilities of the role, qualifications, talent availability & specialization as well as business needs. The above pay range may be modified in the future.
