We have an incredible opportunity to join us here at Phoenix Group as an Employee Relations Consultant to join our team to provide technically competent advice and consultancy in the delivery of People Function services across the organisation.
Job Type: FTC - 9 months
Location: This is a hybrid role that can be based from any of our locations in Telford, Wythall, Edinburgh, Hitchin or London
Flexible working: All of our roles are open to part-time, job-share and other types of flexibility. We will discuss what is important to you and balancing this with business requirements during the recruitment process

The role
What You’ll Do
- Provide expert Employee Relations support and consultancy to stakeholders throughout all stages of Employee Relations cases.
- You will have proven experience of supporting complex Employee Relations cases, including performance, sickness absence and wellbeing, family leave, disciplinaries and grievances.
- You will provide risk and cost-based options to support decision making which will consider employment legislation, case law, best practice and regulatory law.
- Support People leaders to proactively manage colleagues' wellbeing, both whilst at work or during short term or longer-term absence.
- Provide guidance and advice on matters of employment policy whilst performing a governance role across policies that sit within other HR Centres of Excellence
- Keep yourself up to date of changes to legislation, best practice and case law to proactively inform others and look for opportunities to adapt our processes and service offering in line with these.

- You’ll put our customers’ interests at the heart of how you deliver our service.
- Through your proven employment law expertise, you’ll quickly become established as a trusted advisor with all stakeholders.
- You’ll remain calm & professional in challenging situations, operating effectively within a pressured and constantly changing matrix organisation
- Through excellent communication and interpersonal skills, you’ll demonstrate the ability to inspire, influence and persuade effectively, all stakeholders, regardless of seniority within our organisation.
- Ability to work flexibly and willingness to learn and perform new activities
What are we looking for?
Essential
- Proven experience in the case management of all ER activities, particularly complex and potential high-risk cases.
- Experience of putting employment law knowledge into practice in a commercial environment and being able to consider and apply not only Employment law, but regulatory law to all activities.
- CIPD or equivalent Employment law qualification
- Previous experience of ideally working in a Financial Services industry
