Our Terrorism team provides a broad and comprehensive product suite protecting businesses against acts of terrorism and sabotage, political violence, and active assailant events. With extensive experience and a forward-thinking approach, our team addresses the unique and evolving risks faced by today’s markets—and those of tomorrow.
As part of our continued growth, we are seeking an Underwriter with solid UK terrorism insurance experience to join our team. The ideal candidate will have strong technical underwriting and business development skills to develop and underwrite profitable business within CFC’s Terrorism team.
About the role
- Underwrite new business and renewals from brokers in a timely and professional manner, delivering first-class service to produce quotations within agreed service levels and authority parameters.
- Explain the features, benefits and advantages of the terrorism team’s products and associated coverage enhancements with an awareness of competitors’ products and pricing.
- Market new and existing products both internally and externally through delivery of presentations.
- Build and share knowledge of emerging trends in legislation, claims, and other pertinent areas of exposure affecting the portfolio.
- Build knowledge across CFC products to enable cross-sell opportunities.
- Broker development including meeting new brokers and maintaining existing broker relationships with accountability for identified broker panel, territory growth or other identified KPIs.
- Business travel to targeted territories underwriting within, either for conference attendance or broker development.
- Meet the team’s yearly budget as stated within the business plan.
- Contribute effectively to team key performance objectives as stated within the business plan.
- Complete documentation and filing and in adherence with CFC processes and policy standards, ensuring quality and accuracy of data captured at all times.
- Help develop more junior members of the team through both formal and informal training
About you
We are looking for driven, self-starters with a strong work ethic who can contribute to a fast-paced working environment and work within a high performance team. The successful candidate will possess a sales- and service-oriented approach, demonstrate confidence and professionalism both on the phone and in meetings with brokers, and show a clear drive and capability to support the growth of the team.
The ideal applicant will have proven experience in Terrorism/PV underwriting or broking, along with a track record of delivering profitable results. Strong business development skills and established relationships across the UK insurance market— with brokerages of varying sizes—are essential. Given the emerging and evolving nature of our class of insurance, a successful candidate will have an interest in this area and be keen to stay on top of current affairs within the industry.
You will be expected to work at a high pace and intensity that underpins the successful framework of the CFC business and develop relationships with internal and external stakeholders to support our ambitious growth plans.
