The opportunity:
The role is part of the International Division Compliance function, led by the Chief Compliance Officer. The team is well-established providing oversight and compliance support to all of Markel’s insurance activities outside of the U.S.
The ideal candidate will be confident in leading their own work, acting with a collaborative and consultative mindset, and contributing to a growing and maturing function. You will make a meaningful contribution to Markel’s second line compliance oversight. This role provides a great opportunity to develop and grow your career in an exciting and growing business as part of an established Compliance team.
What you’ll be doing:
- Conduct CDD, EDD, Sanctions, and PEP screening
- Monitor activity and exception reports, dealing with sanctions issues arising
- Act as a sanctions adviser to the business, providing clear, accurate, and practical guidance and decisions
- Support the team in analysing key regulatory developments in the Financial Crime space, identifying impacts to the business and providing technical analysis
- Contributing to the annual financial crime and sanctions risk assessment and actions arising
- Helping ensure policies are aligned to prevailing regulatory requirements
- Contribute to data gathering and responses to management, regulators, and auditors.
- Support the production of presentations and papers by gathering the necessary MI, data and supplementary content
