Portfolio Monitoring and Workout Senior Analyst to join our Global Investment Research and Ratings team within the Asset Management (RS&AM) function. This role will suit those who have specific experience in portfolio monitoring and workout; to manage the ongoing surveillance of credit portfolios.

Role Context
The Portfolio Monitoring and Workout Senior Analyst is responsible for the ongoing surveillance of credit portfolios, identifying early warning signals, monitoring covenants, managing covenant waivers in close coordination with the Private Markets Investment Team and supporting the management and resolution of distressed or underperforming assets.
This role plays a critical part in preserving asset quality, minimising losses, and ensuring regulatory compliance through proactive risk management and strategic workout solutions.
Key Responsibilities
Portfolio Monitoring
- Conduct regular reviews of portfolio performance, including covenant compliance.
- Develop and maintain dashboards and reports to track key risk indicators (KRIs) and early warning signals.
- Collaborate with the relevant subject matter experts (SME) to assess borrower performance and identify potential issues.
- Monitor macroeconomic and sector-specific trends that may impact portfolio quality in collaboration with other Asset Management SME.
Workout and Restructuring
- Support the development and execution of workout strategies for distressed or non-performing loans.
- Assist in negotiations with borrowers, legal advisors, and other stakeholders to restructure debt or recover value.
- Prepare credit memos and restructuring proposals for internal committees in collaboration with the relevant SMEs (private market, credit SMEs, Risk, Legal).
- Maintain detailed documentation of workout cases, including action plans, correspondence, and financial models.
Risk Management and Compliance
- Ensure adherence to internal credit policies and framework, regulatory requirements, and industry best practices.
- Participate in internal audits and regulatory reviews as needed.
- Contribute to stress testing and scenario analysis exercises.
Data and Reporting
- Utilise data analytics tools to enhance portfolio insights and reporting capabilities.
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date records in credit systems and databases.
- Produce or coordinate other team outputs – including MI, committee inputs, portfolio reviews.
- Produce required team outputs (for example specific asset MI, committee inputs, portfolio and sector reviews). Lead and/or contribute to other projects as required, for example activities including regulatory requests, and monitoring of group limits.
- Actively participate in governance for internal ratings and other associated committees. Support Credit Research Analyst Leads, Head of Credit Governance and the Chief Credit Officer at any committees or other governance forum.
- Thorough understanding of relevant regulations and PRA expectations for internal ratings and ensures team compliance with internal and external requirements. Leads/assist with PRA deliverables and interactions with PRA.
Stakeholder Management
- Internal; Chief Credit Officer and specialists within the team, Private Markets Team, Group Risk
- External; Banking counterparties, Advisors, Sponsors, Rating Agencies, Consultants and Loan Servicers
What are we looking for?
Experience / Knowledge - Essential (minimum Criteria)
- Workout and restructuring experience
- Knowledge of credit risk management and loan workout processes and has ideally gained experience in a similar Asset Manager, Bank or Credit Ratings Agency
- Strong analytical and financial modelling skills (building and maintaining)
- Familiarity with regulatory frameworks (e.g. PRA/FCA guidelines)
- Proficiency in Excel (Intermediate), Power BI/Tableau, and credit risk systems (e.g., Moody’s Risk Analyst, S&P Capital IQ)
- Ability to apply sound judgement, form and present opinions on an asset, including the ability to write credit reports highlighting key risks to range of stakeholders.
