How does this role contribute to our collective success?
AXIS Global Market’s Credit & Political Risks team is highly regarded in the market and is seeking a dynamic individual to join our team of underwriters to further develop the existing portfolio from an exceptionally strong base.
The role would involve underwriting a wide range of business, across a myriad of sub-sectors in the Credit & Political Risks (C&P) world including but not limited to Credit, Contract Frustration and Confiscation.
The Senior Underwriter will act within established guidelines to market, analyse, review, evaluate and monitor new and renewal accounts of all C&P business. The individual will be responsible for exercising independent judgement in the management of underwriting activities. The individual should have strong market and technical knowledge within C&P and have an ability to bring in and develop relationships with brokers and clients.
What will you do in this role?
Take a lead position within the C&P Underwriting Team
Develop the existing book and explore opportunities for profitable growth.
Work alongside the C&P Team leader to manage key broker relationships.
Review, analyse, evaluate and underwrite new and renewal business within AXIS underwriting guidelines and individual Letter of Authority and make recommendations on business that falls outside authority to Team Leader.
Review and evaluate coverage requests provided by Brokers and Coverholders and determine the C&P team’s position relating to such requests within individual authority granted. Present those outside authority to Team Leader for approval or guidance.
Report on an ad hoc basis regarding pipelines, new opportunities, and progress towards strategic goals.
Work alongside other teams within AXIS, to cross market products.
Meet all Divisional servicing objectives including but not limited to quote turnaround, file maintenance and documentation.
Work alongside the C&P Team leader and AXIS Distribution Team to develop a distribution strategy across Delegated and open market business.
Perform all necessary travel as required for broker development as well as client meetings.
Gather market intelligence and continue to develop and update product and underwriting knowledge.
Maintain up to date familiarity with economic and legal factors impacting the lines of business being underwritten.
Participate in projects or perform other related work as required.

About You:

What you need to have:
Significant insurance industry experience (at least 5 years), preferably in the London Market in either underwriting or broking C&P
Ability to identify strategic growth areas and to highlight any potential threats to the profitability of the account
Proven track record of successfully developing a book
Ability to build new and existing broker and coverholder relationships
Excellent technical skills in the class
Strong team player who is effective working in a close team environment
Open communication style and excellent presentation skills
Attention to detail
