We are currently searching for an Accounting Specialist.
We are looking for an Accounting Specialist who is self-motivated, extremely organized, and possesses a strong work ethic with excellent communication skills. The accounting specialist will assist with journal entries under supervision; help in preparation of reports and posting to specific accounts. Works with accounting staff to ensure that reconciliations are in balance. Computes, classifies, records, and verifies numerical data for use in maintaining accounting records by performing the following duties.
How you'll make an impact• Codes data for input to financial data processing system according to company procedures.
• Verifies and posts details of business transactions, such as funds received and disbursed, and totals accounts to ledgers or computer spreadsheets and databases.
• Keeps all company payables current, in balance and paid.
• Completes posting uploads.
• Audits invoices against purchase orders, researches discrepancies, and processes for payment.
• Prepares vouchers, invoices, checks, account statements, reports, and other records, and reviews for accuracy.
• Responsible for processing and approving finance agreements.
• Reconciles general ledger accounts with various registers.
• Resolves all inter-company discrepancies.
• Compiles cost reports and revenue and balance sheets.
• Makes and posts deposits daily. Reconciles bank statements.
• Assists client service staff in reconciling clients' accounts.
• Reconciles Producer report discrepancies and problems.
• Resolves premium discrepancies and adjusts commissions as needed.
• Backs up company payable person as needed.
• Follows company procedures with respect to all essential duties and responsibilities of the job.
• Prepares and enters all benefit, payroll and 401k journal entries.
• Enters all payroll budget information into accounting system annually.
• Other duties as assigned.
About YouRequired:
• High school diploma and 5 years related experience.
• Well developed understanding of bookkeeping/accounting principals.
• Proficient in Microsoft Suite of Office Products.
• Advanced Microsoft Excel expertise.
• Solid background in the use of technology, particularly applications specific to department/area.
• Excellent communication skills written and oral
Preferred:
• Bachelors degree desirable.
• Knowledgeable in using various analytical approaches to problem solving.
• Work history in some sector of the insurance industry.
Behaviors:
• Highly developed attention to detail, organizational and follow up capabilities.
• High degree of business technology awareness and its applications to workplace efficiencies.
• Ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines.
