Description
As an Assistant Underwriter you’ll learn to develop and underwrite profitable business, working closely with the Team Leader and wider team to support the servicing of our profitable Global portfolio.. You’ll support the team across a variety of areas, including supporting new business development and underwriting renewal accounts.
Our Assistant Underwriters are encouraged to seek out and proactively develop new broker relationships and to work with the Underwriters to manage our key partner relationships.
About the role
- Respond promptly and professionally to new business and renewal enquiries, delivering high‑quality service and quotations within agreed SLAs and underwriting authority.
- Build strong technical knowledge of the Financial Institutions market, including underwriting exposure and control analysis.
- Contribute to team initiatives such as product enhancements, new product launches and improvements to systems, policies and processes.
- Support the preparation of management information and reports.
- Maintain accurate documentation and data in line with CFC processes and policy standards.
- Carry out ad‑hoc and administrative tasks as required by the Underwriting Manager or Team Leader.
- Attend relevant internal and external industry events to support learning and relationship building.
About you
We are seeking driven, self‑starting individuals with a strong work ethic who can thrive in a fast‑paced environment and contribute effectively within a high‑performance team. In this role, you will continue to develop your technical underwriting and business development capabilities.
Previous broking or underwriting experience within FI or Financial Lines is desirable but a background on related longtail areas would also be considered, along with the ability to build and maintain long‑term relationships with brokers and colleagues across the organisation.
You will bring strong analytical skills and excellent attention to detail, while also being able to reach conclusions quickly and make sound decisions. You will be expected to operate at the pace and intensity that underpin CFC’s success, while developing strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders to support our ambitious growth plans.
