Job Description
The successful candidate’s responsibilities will include evaluating, estimating, negotiating, and settling property catastrophe claims in accordance with company standards. The successful candidate will travel to loss locations across Canada in response to catastrophic weather events as they occur to provide excellent customer service to our affected clients.
What Can You Expect
- The successful candidate will be assigned a company vehicle.
- The successful candidate will receive a Catastrophe Occupational Bonus above and beyond their salary, overtime & per diem pay, and bonus.
- The successful candidate will be required to travel to loss sites across Canada in response to catastrophic weather events.
- Deploy approved Economical loss cost control programs and technology to investigate, negotiate and settle moderate to complex personal claims as assigned.
- Develops and records information pertaining to the claim and/or coverage, documenting notes in the appropriate system(s) and driving the claim towards closure.
- Interpret policy wordings to make correct coverage decisions. Reviews claim evidence, photos, and investigative documentation to assist in identifying subrogation opportunities or identifying potential third-party liability exposure.
- Maintain relationships and provide accurate direction to appropriate vendors & experts within corporate guidelines.
- Knowledge of building code and by-laws as they pertain to structural repairs.
- Supports regional adjusting functions while not deployed by working business as usual claims as required. Supports national appraisal function while not deployed on CAT by completing reinspection’s.
What You Bring
- Minimum of 2 years’ experience as a property claim adjuster or appraiser.
- University degree, college diploma, and/or CIP designation is an asset.
- Thorough knowledge of Xactware software and experience writing estimates in Xactimate for both interior and exterior property damages and navigating Xactanalysis.
- Experience using estimating software such as PLNAR, HOVER, Eagleview, etc. is an asset.
- Demonstrated ability to create detailed repair scopes/estimates on moderately complex losses and create.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills and ability to work autonomously.
- Professional, friendly, courteous in all interactions, flexible, and ability to remain calm while under pressure.
- Bilingual (French & English) a strong asset
Salary range: $65,500 - $109,200
Working hours: While deployed on CAT, the expected workday is 12 hours per day, 6 or 7 days per week. When not deployed, the regular work week is 36.25 hours.
