Are you an emerging insurance professional with a keen eye for detail and a passion for learning? We are seeking a detail-oriented and proactive Assistant Underwriter to join our Sydney Tech, Media & IP team and support our growing Tech, Media & IP portfolio.
About the role:
Reporting to the National Manager – Tech, Media & IP, you will assist the National Manager with underwriting and developing a profitable portfolio across technology, media and intellectual property risks. This includes new business and renewal underwriting, supporting product development, and building strong broker relationships within a fast-evolving and innovation-led class of business.

Responsibilities Include:
- Manage and service the existing Tech and Media portfolio within delegated authority and underwriting guidelines
- Assist in the assessment and pricing of risks across Professional Indemnity / E&O, Cyber and related technology and media liability covers
- Build and maintain strong broker relationships through responsive, high-quality service
- Clearly explain coverage intent, policy structure and enhancements to brokers
- Monitor portfolio performance, market trends and emerging risks
- Contribute to team initiatives and a collaborative, high-performance culture
- Stay informed of industry developments and market trends
- Ensure compliance with legislation, insurer guidelines, and company policies
- Attend industry functions and networking events as required
About You:
- 2+ years’ experience within the Insurance industry, ideally in an Underwriting support capacity
- Positive, professional, can-do attitude with a strong sense of accountability
- Excellent customer service skills, including written and verbal communication skills
- Excellent attention to detail and organisational skills with the ability to manage competing priorities
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office and comfortable with IT systems
- Ability to work both autonomously and in a team setting
- Understanding of the Australian insurance market
