The Opportunity
We are seeking a talented and motivated mid‑level Litigation Associate (5+ year of call) to join our Alberta team, with a primary focus on bodily injury and motor vehicle accident defence. This role offers an excellent opportunity to develop a litigation practice within a well‑established insurance defence group while receiving hands‑on mentorship and increasing responsibility.

Responsibilities
- Managing insurance defence files through all stages of litigation, including carriage of bodily injury and MVA matters
- Conducting discoveries, mediations, and chambers applications with a high degree of independence
- Working closely with senior counsel on complex, high‑exposure, or high‑profile matters
- Providing strategic advice to insurer clients and maintaining strong reporting and file management standards
- Contributing to business development initiatives and supporting the continued growth of the practice
- Meeting billable and non‑billable expectations in a fast‑paced, team‑oriented defence practice
What will help you succeed in this role?
The Ideal Candidate
The successful candidate will have:
- 5+ years of post‑call civil litigation experience, with demonstrated experience in bodily injury and MVA defence
- Experience acting for insurers and insureds in a busy defence practice
- Familiarity with Alberta Rules of Court and litigation procedures
- Strong legal research, drafting, and analytical skills, paired with sound professional judgment
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with a client‑focused and service‑oriented approach
- The ability to manage files independently while collaborating effectively within a team environment
Experience with complex loss or coverage issues is considered an asset but is not required.
