Job Description
As the Manager, Reinsurance Finance, you will be a pivotal leader, reporting directly to the AVP, Capital & Treasury Management. You will have full ownership of the accounting and finance functions for our reinsurance portfolio and play a crucial role in business integrations. You will work collaboratively across different teams including reinsurance placement, finance, actuarial, claims, personal, commercial, capital management & treasury, and external reinsurance brokers and reinsurers.
What To Expect
- Leadership & Strategy: Lead a team of three reinsurance specialists, guiding their work in financial reporting, collections, and analysis.
- Financial Stewardship: Oversee all month-end, quarter-end, and year-end financial and regulatory reporting for the reinsurance team.
- Operational Excellence: Drive the monthly billing and collections processes, ensuring accuracy and efficiency.
- Cross-Functional Collaboration: Act as the key financial liaison for new cross-border reinsurance activities, working with underwriting, claims, and actuarial teams.
- Process Improvement: Continuously analyze and improve our processes to enhance productivity and reduce cycle times.
- Key Project Integration: Serve as the financial integration lead for the significant Travelers Canada acquisition, managing financial reporting and claims integration.
What You Bring
We're looking for a motivated and detail-oriented leader who thrives in a collaborative environment.
- Education: A university or college degree in business, finance, or a related program.
- Designation: A professional accounting designation (e.g., CPA) is required.
- Experience: 7+ years of progressive experience in financial accounting and reporting, specifically within the P&C insurance and/or reinsurance industry.
- Technical Skills: Strong proficiency with Microsoft Office, especially Excel, PowerPoint, and Word.
- Leadership Qualities: Proven ability to communicate effectively with all levels of an organization, a strong work ethic, and a professional, courteous demeanor. You are flexible and can confidently manage time-sensitive requests.
Salary Range: $88,000 - $138,000
