Sompo has a unique opportunity for a Cyber Risk Control Specialist in our UK Risk Control team.
Our UK Risk Control team offers diverse multi-line risk control services to our internal and external stakeholders. The department supports multiple underwriting departments including but not limited to: - Corporate Property, Middle Market P&C, Energy & Renewables and Marine. We work to delivery risk control services to our policyholders and build long-term partnerships on the foundation of a strong service proposition.
Sompo’s Cyber UW team offers an integrated approach to underwriting Cyber exposures across all segments. Our practical risk management programs are tailored to each client’s business operation, market environment and priorities to assist our clients with their cyber security controls and risk management efforts.
The Cyber Risk Control Specialist, is responsible for managing resources used to provide risk assessments and consultative services for the underwriting team and for cyber clients. The department actively promote client retention, support new business development, and achieve loss exposure assessments and improvements.
In addition, the Cyber Risk Control Specialist will provide risk improvement consultation to our customers.

What you’ll be doing:
- Working closely with various key internal stakeholders including the Underwriting, Claims and risk engineering teams. across Sompo’s Large business and Mid-Market Technology LOBs.
- Acting as a subject matter expert in various cyber security and risk management domains and engaging with our clients, distribution partners and other external stakeholders.
- Support underwriters to assess cyber exposures (including desktop reviews), pre and post loss.
- Support claims handlers to assess forensic reports following an incident.
- Develop and maintain Sompo Cyber and broker question sets and ensuring they are current and in line with both market standards and the evolving threat landscape.
- Work with the global cyber team to develop a Cyber Threat Intelligence structure to monitor trends and send severe / critical vulnerability alerts to insureds / brokers.
- Coordinate the implementation and monitoring of loss mitigation services provided by Sompo’s network of cyber vendors.
- Assist in providing our customers with a market leading Cyber proposition.
What you’ll bring:
- A University degree or equivalent industry accreditation, NIST Cybersecurity Framework, ISO 27001, .
- 10+ years’ experience in cyber insurance or cybersecurity fields in the UK.
- Technical cybersecurity certification is favourable.
- Solid understanding of sound Cyber Risk Control processes and techniques.
- Experience in regulatory compliance and risk management.
- Strong communication skills.
- Ability to effectively problem solve and find alternative equivalent solutions to complex technical, business, and interpersonal problems.
