The Opportunity
Reporting to the Manager, Financial Reporting, we’re seeking a detail‑oriented Senior Financial Analyst to lead period‑end investment reconciliations. You will be the go‑to expert bridging investment operations, custodians, and the general ledger—ensuring our investment portfolio is complete, accurate, and timely for financial reporting.
What To Expect
- Reconcile cash transactions and position activity (buys/sells, income, corporate actions) between the investment custodian(s) and the corporate investment tool (Portia)
- Work closely with the Investments team to analyze variances, identify root causes, and resolve discrepancies
- Prepare and post journal entries (accruals, amortization/accretion, realized/unrealized gains/losses, investment fees)
- Reconcile the general ledger to the investment portfolios, ensuring completeness, accuracy, and appropriate cut‑off
- Monitor compliance with accounting policies under IFRS
- Own month‑end and quarter‑end close deliverables related to investments: reconciliations, financial statement and MDA-related disclosures, variance analysis, and supporting schedules
What You Bring
- Completed post-secondary degree, preferably in Accounting, Finance, or related field
- Professional designation considered an asset (e.g. CPA, CFA)
- Experience with investment accounting/reconciliation, and knowledge of investment products (e.g., equities, bonds, money market; familiarity with derivatives such as futures, options, or FX forwards)
- Strong proficiency with Excel
- Strong written and verbal communication skills and ability to interact with all levels of the organization, as well as external parties
- Strong analytical skills and exceptional attention to detail
- Self-starter who can identify opportunities for improvement and execute on them
- Proven ability to prioritize multiple tasks and meet firm deadlines
- Experience with investment accounting systems (e.g., Portia) considered an asset
- Knowledge and experience with IFRS considered an asset
Salary Range:$73,500 - $123,500
High degree of proficiency with English required to service customers, both internal to the company and external, across Canada.
