Description
We are seeking a skilled Syndicate Financial Accountant to join our organisation’s finance team, specifically supporting our Lloyd’s Syndicate financial operations. This role is critical in ensuring the integrity and accuracy of Syndicate financial reporting, adhering to internal accounting policies under US GAAP, taking ownership of Corporate Member financial statements, and supporting the fulfilment of external regulatory requirements. As our ideal candidate, you will have experience from a Lloyd’s Syndicate or a similar insurance environment.
Some of the key tasks may include:
- Prepare, review, and submit Syndicate financial statements in accordance with statutory requirements and US GAAP.
- Support internal Convex teams with Lloyd’s reporting requirements.
- Manage and reconcile Syndicate ledger accounts, including profit and loss (PL), asset, and liability items.
- Support the Finance function by ensuring accurate Syndicate data is reported to the Group and BMA regulator.
- Analyse financial performance and variances, providing insights and commentary for management and the Audit Committee (AC).
- Coordinate with auditors, internal departments, and external actuaries to ensure successful audit outcomes and data integrity.
- Assist preparing supporting analysis as needed.
- Support system developments and finance transformation projects as required.
- Maintain robust financial controls in compliance with group policies.
Skills Knowledge and Expertise
- Qualified accountant (ACA, ACCA, CIMA or equivalent).
- Experience in the Lloyd’s Insurance Market, working within a Syndicate
- Deep understanding of Syndicate accounting processes.
- Highly proficient in using finance systems and knowledge of data warehousing and reporting tools is advantageous.
- Ability to communicate complex financial information clearly to stakeholders at various levels.
- Robust problem-solving skills, attention to detail, and a proactive approach.
- Experience with auditors and regulatory bodies is preferred.
