We are seeking to increase our origination, structuring and execution capabilities. As a result, we have a phenomenal opportunity for an experienced derivatives pricing structurer to join us at an exciting time, as we shape our proposition and the way we work to support our growth ambitions. The position will sit within the structuring team within Retirement Solutions and report to the Senior Proposition Structurer for the business.

The role
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and implement a consistent pricing methodology for guarantees and derivative-based investment solutions
- Actively contribute to strategies that maximise the contribution of Retirement Solutions to the Open Business
- Serve as the key contact for the team for the pricing of investment solutions produced by the team
- Assist in the design of appropriate solutions and continue to innovate in the face of a very competitive market
- Assist in the design and implementation of risk management and hedging strategies/programs for the business line, collaborating with colleagues in Asset Management
- Ensure all investment solutions meet the firm’s desired risk/return metrics
- Maintain relationships with third party service providers, including investment banks, asset managers, infrastructure providers, and investment platforms for in scope business
- Maintain strong relationships amongst the Business, Risk and Finance leaders
- Work with the Operations and Actuarial teams to ensure the appropriate ongoing management of executed transactions.
- Ensure that local and role specific risk and regulatory requirements are adhered to.
What we’re looking for
The UK retirement market is complex and interconnected. So, as a team, we need to be aware of trends and activity in the wider retirement market to fulfil our role and support our customers.
You will need to be a team player, but we also need you to be an individual: one who is flexible and adaptable but is also able to overcome challenges and do the right thing for the customer.
To support this, you should:
- Strong commercial acumen with proven experience working with structured investments
- Advanced degree or equivalent (e.g. CFA, FRM, CQF) in a quantitative subject (economics, finance, maths, physics, etc.) from a leading university
- Direct experience in the pricing of derivatives, structured products, quantitative investments, or algorithmic strategies, most likely gained from a derivative structuring/trading desk within a tier 1 investment bank
- A track record of pricing and delivering innovative cross-asset, derivative-based investment solutions
- Direct experience in the development of pricing and simulation tools (e.g. Monte Carlo) and asset modelling capabilities
- Strong technical and coding (python, R, and VBA) capabilities
- Excellent communication skills: effective engagement with internal stakeholders across the Group and ability to simplify complex topics for delivery to different audiences
- Ability to efficiently divide one’s time between transversal projects involving multiple internal and external stakeholders and pricing of transactions
Role
This role is covered by the Senior Managers & Certification Regime (SM&CR) as a certified role. Therefore this role is subject to annual certification by Phoenix Group, as well as regulatory compliance standards. Anybody performing this role will be subject to:
