The opportunity:
We have an exciting opportunity for an Assistant Cyber Underwriter to join the Markel Cyber team. We have been writing Cyber for over 10 years, across 6 proprietary Cyber products, on globally licensed company and syndicate paper. Our portfolio is large and diverse, consisting of primary and excess of loss business, for SME and large corporate, across 50 countries, including the US and UK. We pride ourselves on our leading Open Market offering, supplemented by delegated business via Coverholders and market facilities. This role is based within the Cyber team, of which there are twelve dedicated members. This expert team is dedicated to providing best-in-breed service and are empowered to offer flexible and innovative solutions to our brokers and clients. We give our Underwriters commercial freedom and ever-improving tools, training and intelligence, to help them operate effectively and take smart, calculated risks.
What you’ll be doing:
- Receive new business & renewal submissions from Underwriters, and log, process, sanction screen and enter them into the rater
- Support Underwriters in the renewing of policies, this may include claims analysis, as well as producing Cyber reports via IT platforms that we use within the Markel Cyber team
- Develop and understanding of the Cyber product, and Cyber product coverage across competitor wordings
- On occasion, specific reports or management information may be required by Underwriters or Managers, be prepared to produce such information upon request
- Develop positive relationships across the various Markel teams that the Cyber Underwriting team works with, for example, the premium processing team, the sanctions team, compliance team and Underwriting Oversight team
- Handle and maintain central documents and spreadsheets that the Underwriting team rely upon for the day-to-day operation of the team, such as the Outstanding Slips spreadsheet and Renewal sheet
- Keep abreast of Cyber product development and knowledge
- Ensure continuous professional development is undertaken
- With Underwriter guidance & instruction, produce Markel Cyber policy documentation, including endorsements
