Job Description
As a key member of the Underwriting Operations team at Canopius, this role is central to ensuring the smooth and accurate handling of risk data across the business. You will provide oversight of outsourced services, maintaining high standards in data entry and associated tasks. A critical part of your responsibilities will be to safeguard the timely throughput and exceptional quality of data processed by our outsourced operations function.
You will take ownership of quality checks and audits, reviewing risk data entry completed both internally and by our outsourcing partners. Acting as a trusted point of contact, you will investigate and resolve queries from underwriters, Credit Control, and other business areas, becoming a focal point for a specific class of business. Your expertise will position you as a senior source of knowledge, guiding in-house and outsourced team members and escalating matters to the Underwriting Operations Manager when necessary.
Throughout all interactions—whether written or verbal—you will represent Underwriting Operations positively and professionally, with a constant focus on delivering outstanding service to colleagues across Canopius globally. Responsibilities Will Include
- Take responsibility for quality control, audit and query resolution on data entry work where required conducted by colleagues offshore.
- Analyse/interpret and challenge the weekly and monthly processing statistics provided by the outsource team.
- Data quality checks – Investigate by reviewing company documentation stored locally and through the IMR, resolve and / or annotate reason for issue identifying where issue is a result from an error or an acceptable exception. Where an issue has been queried with Underwriting, keep a log and follow up and escalate as appropriate.
- Engage with underwriting teams to progress query resolution to a high standard in a timely manner and build good relationships with the relevant teams.
- Ensure all procedures are kept up to date for the Onshore and Offshore teams.
- Provide ‘technical’ support for underwriters as required and other colleagues across the business.
- Assist in the monitoring/completion of DQ Pro rules and complete follow up actions as required.
- Undertake ad hoc tasks in relation to the Underwriting Operations function as directed by the Underwriting Operations Manager.
- Act as a Deputy for colleagues when they are absent.
- Actively contribute to change initiatives and provide recommendations for continuous improvement.
- Maintain excellent communication with team members, the wider management team and internal as well as external stakeholders.
Skills And Experience
- Extensive knowledge of data entry and reading slips essential (within the London Market).
- Working knowledge of Subscribe preferred or another Policy Administration System.
- As above knowledge of document management and workflow systems an advantage.
- Working knowledge of different classes of insurance underwritten within the London Market.
- Effective communication skills (verbal and written).
- General knowledge of end-to-end life cycle of a policy.
- Knowledge of bordereaux process / VIPR – the Intrali system is an advantage.
- Strong analytical skills.
- Intermediate to Advanced Excel knowledge and skills in other Microsoft Office products in order to support MI and Reporting.
- Knowledge of Lloyd’s Delegated Authority business.
