Job Overview
Specialty Lines Managing General Underwriting Agency is seeking an experienced Miscellaneous Professional Liability Underwriter who is driven to succeed. The selected candidate will play a key role in evaluating, underwriting, and managing complex professional liability risks across a broad range of non-standard and miscellaneous professional classes. Key Responsibilities
- Underwrite new and renewal Miscellaneous Professional Liability accounts in accordance with underwriting authority, company guidelines, and risk appetite
- Analyze submissions by evaluating professional exposures, financials, claims history, contracts, and operational practices
- Determine appropriate pricing, terms, conditions, limits, and coverage enhancements
- Maintain and grow a profitable book of business while meeting production and retention goals
- Develop and sustain strong broker and agent relationships through clear communication and responsiveness
Required Qualifications And Skills
- Minimum of 5 years of underwriting experience in the insurance industry
- Strong understanding of professional liability coverage forms, endorsements, and exclusions
- Proven ability to analyze complex risks and exercise sound underwriting judgment
- Excellent negotiation, communication, and relationship-management skills
- Proficiency in underwriting systems, Microsoft Office, Teams, Outlook, Word, and Excel
- Analytical and detail-oriented mindset
- Customer-focused approach with a strong sense of accountability
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment
Compensation And Benefits

This is a full-time position, and salary is commensurate with experience. The annualized base pay range is determined through market analysis of comparable roles. Actual compensation may vary based on performance, proficiency, and demonstrated competencies. Base pay is one component of the total compensation package.

Pursuant to Connecticut regulation, the compensation range for this position is as stated and includes eligibility for performance-based bonuses.
Connecticut Pay Range: $70,000 USD - $110,000 USD
