We are looking for an emerging underwriter to join our dynamic Equipment Breakdown team. Reporting to the Western Manager, Equipment Breakdown, the successful candidate will use their technical and marketing skills along with strong business acumen to grow this book of business while working closely with the other line of business teams to provide clients with a comprehensive insurance solution. The ability to work independently, as well as collaboratively in a team, is paramount, as is problem-solving and having a strong attention to detail and accuracy.
How you will create impact:
- Underwriting and quoting new business and renewals in accordance with our underwriting philosophy and guideline to ensure a profitable book of business within established authority. Negotiate coverage or rates as applicable, offering creative solutions that offer a mutually beneficial outcome.
- Work with our risk engineering peers to understand risk quality
- Building the brand. Developing positive and constructive relationships with brokers and business partners with a focus towards expanding market penetration.
- Establishing and maintaining strong relationships with key clients to deliver account support, and customized client focused proposals.
- Actively monitor progress towards targets and goals
- Support continuous improvement and product development by providing constructive feedback and insights on product offerings, tools and/or resource

To join our team:
- A University or College Degree is preferred.
- An Insurance designation (or working towards) CIP/CRM is an asset.
- Minimum 2+ years of underwriting experience is preferred.
- Open to travel once or twice per year.
- Proficiency in both English and French is essential to the main duties in this role, including servicing and communicating primarily with majority anglophone and francophone clients, groups, and teams. The essential non-French duties are not assignable to adjacent or other team members.

Expected salary range $50,280 to $83,800
The salary amount for the successful candidate is determined by Co-operators in its discretion and will vary depending on several criteria including but not limited to: local market conditions, geography and relevant job-related factors such as knowledge, skills, qualification, experience and education.
Employees may also have the opportunity to participate in incentive programs and earn additional compensation tied to individual and/or business performance, or other business metrics.
