Role Purpose
The Chief Information Officer (CIO) for Arch Insurance International (AINTL) is a strategic executive role responsible for shaping, executing, and governing the technology agenda that drives profitable growth, underwriting excellence, superior customer experience, and operational resilience. The CIO leads business transformation by collaborating closely with senior business partners and owning the delivery of complex, multi-year programmes from strategy through execution. As a key member of the global technology leadership team, the CIO aligns technology strategy with business objectives, champions a technology roadmap that supports business ambitions, and ensures the successful delivery of innovative solutions that differentiate Arch Insurance in the market.
The CIO acts as a trusted technology advisor to the AINTL COO, Global CIO and rest of the executive team, providing expert technology guidance, setting clear priorities, and managing risk. The role is pivotal in fostering a culture of high-quality delivery, collaboration, and continuous improvement, and in building strong, productive working relationships with stakeholders at all levels. Ownership of outcomes, visible leadership in transformation, and the ability to unite teams behind a shared vision are essential. Exceptional relationship-building and influencing skills are required, as well as the ability to attract, develop, and retain top technology talent and to manage vendor relationships and budgets with rigour and transparency.
The CIO will also define and embed operating models that reinforce accountability, align interests, and drive results, ensuring the technology function is seen as a credible, forward-thinking business partner.
Key Responsibilities
Business Transformation & Technology Leadership: Lead the end-to-end delivery of complex transformation initiatives, ensuring alignment with business strategy and ownership of tangible outcomes. Act as the principal architect and executor for technology elements of the roadmap, overseeing all aspects
Drive continuous improvement and embed a culture of accountability, transparency, and high performance.
Collaboration & Stakeholder Engagement: Serve as a strategic partner to executive and functional leaders, including underwriting, claims, operations, actuarial, and finance, ensuring technology enables and accelerates business objectives. Build and nurture collaborative relationships across all levels of the organisation and with external partners, facilitating consensus and managing competing priorities with diplomacy and credibility.
Technology Strategy & Transformation: Refine & lead execution of a multi-year technology strategy aligned to AINTL business priorities and the Group’s enterprise vision.
Continuously advise on emerging technologies, digital trends, and industry solutions to ensure Arch remains at the forefront of innovation.
Delivery of Complex Technology initiatives: Oversee delivery excellence for large-scale, mission-critical projects, ensuring they are completed on time, within scope and budget, and to the highest standards. Champion engineering, agile, and product delivery maturity to improve predictability, throughput, and value realisation.
Vendor Management & Financial Stewardship: Develop and lead robust vendor management strategies, including selection, negotiation, and performance oversight.
Own and manage the technology budget, ensuring transparency, financial stewardship, and alignment with strategic priorities. Continuously seek opportunities for cost efficiency and value creation through effective vendor and partner relationships.
Talent Acquisition & Development: Attract, develop, and retain a high-performing, diverse technology team. Embed capability frameworks, clear career pathways, and a culture of collaboration and innovation. Lead by example, championing authenticity, integrity, and a relentless commitment to excellence.
Cybersecurity, Risk & Resilience: Strengthen technology, data, and cyber controls across all platforms, ensuring compliance with SOX, regulatory, and risk requirements. Oversee disaster recovery, resilience planning, and operational stability to minimise business disruption and reduce vulnerabilities.
Data, Analytics & AI Enablement: Collaborate with Data & Analytics teams to advance data maturity, governance, and the commercial application of analytics and AI across AINTL. Champion responsible AI adoption, data accessibility, and uplift of digital literacy within technology teams. Enable high-performance data management services to deliver timely insights and support business decision-making.
Service Management & Operational Excellence: Strengthen end-to-end service operations, including incident, problem, and change management. Drive improvements in SLA compliance, service reliability, and customer satisfaction. Define and uphold standards for business-as-usual (BAU) support and manage performance targets (KPIs).

Visible improvement in team engagement, cross-functional collaboration, and stakeholder satisfaction. Positive feedback from business partners, reflecting the CIO's effectiveness in building relationships, aligning interests, and resolving issues constructively.
Qualifications and Experience
Demonstrable experience as a senior executive technology leader, ideally within insurance or financial services, with a proven track record in successfully delivering complex, large-scale technology delivery
Ability & deep experience in balancing run v/s change priorities and budgets for the business.
Expertise across technology strategy, enterprise architecture, engineering, digital delivery, data, cyber, vendor management, infrastructure, end user services.
Experience in developing and executing technology roadmaps and operating models is essential.
Strong experience in executing complex multi year, multi platform technology projects and delivering business outcomes
Strong experience in delivering technology re-platforming and using build / buy sourcing approaches that are aligned to business strategy
Strong experience in working in collaborative delivery model blending / onboarding internal and external vendor teams. Experience in transitioning between delivery locations / teams based on “right shoring” approach that is aligned to business strategy
Strategic and hands-on leadership style, with business credibility, vision, and executive presence. Ability to translate business needs into technology solutions and drive adoption across diverse teams.
Proven ability to lead, develop, and motivate high-performing teams through periods of change. Experience in attracting, retaining, and developing technology talent, with a focus on inclusion and continuous learning.
Substantial experience in technology budget oversight, financial management, and strategic vendor partnerships, including contract negotiation and performance management.
Exceptional stakeholder engagement and influencing skills. Demonstrated success partnering with senior executives, regulators, and business stakeholders to achieve strategic outcomes in a matrixed and cross-cultural environment.
Bachelor’s degree required; advanced degree (MBA, MSc, etc.) preferred. Relevant industry certifications (e.g., cloud, security, Agile, architecture) are advantageous.
Knowledge of the insurance industry is highly desirable, with an understanding of current trends, business models, and regulatory challenges.
Strong Agile delivery experience across complex transformation portfolios, demonstrating the ability to lead multidisciplinary teams through significant change and deliver outcomes at pace.
Proven decision-making capability in multidisciplinary environments, with a clear focus on driving tangible results and navigating ambiguity to achieve business objectives.
